4-pots didn't come in till STi 3, same with the rear lights, maybe even STi 4.

It sounds like an STi RA either a Version 1 or 2 with the optional Lamco STi gauges.
Not all STi on the early models had red inlets, although some seem to.
Ally intercooler is defo STi.

Is the strut brace a thick Ally brace or a thin carbon tube.
If it's the Ally type it's a Version 1, if it's carbon it's version 2.

The ECU will be labelled SB for Version 1 or 7K for version 2.
Intercooler water spray and diff control point to it being an RA.

Sounds like youve got the same as me mate minus the roof vent, have a look at mine Sti RA v2

http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ead.php?t=4493

As said before the early sti's didnt come with the red inlet paint and had the orange rear lights and 2pot callipers. The intercooler sounds like an sti but have a look at the plate in the engine bay and check the vehicle code also have a look at the ecu code too.

sti ra's always had the roof vents, side skirts could of been added but they were not on the vehicle when originally sold and sti ra's always had the dccd.

ECU will be the best bet...
SA = STi Version 1
SB = STI RA Version 1
6K = STi Version 2
7K = STI RA Version 2
W9 or Z5 = WRX RA
W6, 2C, U8 or Z4 = WRX

V7, 7D or 6D are UK ECU

Anything else is a Wagon ECU i.e 1C, 3B, B4, V5, V9.

I believe the roof vent was only an opional extra on the V1 ra

Sounds like yours is an ra with a replacement gearbox

Thats good, 6K is the best ECU you can get for a Pre96 model.
It runs the same map as the Prodrive UK PPP, so also good from 97/98RON fuel providing boost is not increased by other means.

i dont think its an ra coz its also got elec windows.i no thay were an option thou. it might just be an sti that someone has changed the centerconsole or added the thumbwheel coz a switch blank was missing. best bet is to see if the thumbwheel is connected? an does the dash clocks have the dccd lights between the speedo an rev counter?

Agree with scooberblue need to look for dccd light on dash to check if it has dccd working, have the seats and steering wheel got red stitching? what does the rev counter red line start at? also check vin plate as previously suggested

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...ProductionRuns

Car with 6K ECU should have a VIN code of GC8C4ED whcih would make it a regular STi 2

Firstly the MY96 RA (aug 95-aug 96) came in 3 differant types:
WRX RA chassis code GC8C47D
WRX STI RA V2 chassis code GC8C4DD
WRX STI RA V2 V Limited chassis code GC8C4DD

The WRX RA didnt come with roof vent or dccd where as the other 2 did. The v limited also had the signed seats, limited edition number
The main things to look out for when buying an RA is that it MUST NOT HAVE an areial on the passenger side rear quarter or a rear wiper. they were not available on any RA. The areial should be on the drivers side A piller.

A True RA wont have side skirts, spoiler, any electrics or air con but as these were available on the extras list many RA'S do indeed have some or all of these extras.
