what have i got????

hi guys as you no iv just bought a 95 sti but its got some bits on that i doesnt add up
such

red inlet manifold
inter cooler spray
allylook slant tmic
sti strut brace
sti rear strut brace
center diff switch
sti center console gauges(lower)water temp boost volts
sti seats

but
car is still in klm
twin piston front calipers
no roof vent
does nt feel like close ratio g box
no red stitching on steering wheel
orange and red rear lights

any way i thought it was an sti 2 but i thought sti s would have 4 pot calipers and cdiff control is for the ra s and r s.

it says sti on the log book

so what have i got??????

please help

cheers jon

munk 08-07-2010 08:26 PM

BARGAIN.??:yeah:

Scott.T 08-07-2010 08:27 PM

4-pots didn't come in till STi 3, same with the rear lights, maybe even STi 4.

It sounds like an STi RA either a Version 1 or 2 with the optional Lamco STi gauges.
Not all STi on the early models had red inlets, although some seem to.
Ally intercooler is defo STi.

Is the strut brace a thick Ally brace or a thin carbon tube.
If it's the Ally type it's a Version 1, if it's carbon it's version 2.

The ECU will be labelled SB for Version 1 or 7K for version 2.
Intercooler water spray and diff control point to it being an RA.

AndyWRX 08-07-2010 08:57 PM

Sounds like youve got the same as me mate minus the roof vent, have a look at mine Sti RA v2

http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ead.php?t=4493

As said before the early sti's didnt come with the red inlet paint and had the orange rear lights and 2pot callipers. The intercooler sounds like an sti but have a look at the plate in the engine bay and check the vehicle code also have a look at the ecu code too.

jonnyricer 08-07-2010 09:02 PM

ok it has an carbon front brace will look at ecu tommorrow

brakes and rear lights make sense as these were on my old black v3sti

cheers silversurfer

i hope so munk mate woop woop

jonnyricer 08-07-2010 09:09 PM

cheers andy but mine has side skirts aswell when i drove it the other day she didnt feel like a close ratio ra gear box would any thing on the chassis plate tell me any more

most odd

AndyWRX 08-07-2010 09:11 PM

should give you the model code i think, cant quite remember

AndyWRX 08-07-2010 09:15 PM

Sounds like an ra but i was allways told they didnt come with skirts and had the close ratio box and roof vent, could be just the usual subaru thing making so many types and models no one knows exactally whats what lol

belliott 08-07-2010 09:37 PM

sti ra's always had the roof vents, side skirts could of been added but they were not on the vehicle when originally sold and sti ra's always had the dccd.

jonnyricer 08-07-2010 09:59 PM

hmm cheers guys skirts are pretty on there though its a mindfield!

Scott.T 08-07-2010 10:05 PM

ECU will be the best bet...
SA = STi Version 1
SB = STI RA Version 1
6K = STi Version 2
7K = STI RA Version 2
W9 or Z5 = WRX RA
W6, 2C, U8 or Z4 = WRX

V7, 7D or 6D are UK ECU

Anything else is a Wagon ECU i.e 1C, 3B, B4, V5, V9.

Chunk 09-07-2010 08:41 AM

I believe the roof vent was only an opional extra on the V1 ra

Sounds like yours is an ra with a replacement gearbox

Chunk 09-07-2010 08:42 AM

May have also had the side skirts added after

AndyWRX 10-07-2010 04:34 PM

Do you have any pics of it mate?

jonnyricer 11-07-2010 06:50 PM

right guys it has a 6k ecu sticker on it

so i presume sti2 with ra options on her

so no pics at the mo

Jolly Green Monster 11-07-2010 11:07 PM

Ecu could have been changed.
What is the model code on the vin plate?

Scott.T 12-07-2010 08:34 AM

Thats good, 6K is the best ECU you can get for a Pre96 model.
It runs the same map as the Prodrive UK PPP, so also good from 97/98RON fuel providing boost is not increased by other means.

Chunk 12-07-2010 08:37 AM

Sounds like you may have got yourself a bargain. The RA's are fun

scooberblue 12-07-2010 09:47 AM

i dont think its an ra coz its also got elec windows.i no thay were an option thou. it might just be an sti that someone has changed the centerconsole or added the thumbwheel coz a switch blank was missing. best bet is to see if the thumbwheel is connected? an does the dash clocks have the dccd lights between the speedo an rev counter?

Agree with scooberblue need to look for dccd light on dash to check if it has dccd working, have the seats and steering wheel got red stitching? what does the rev counter red line start at? also check vin plate as previously suggested:doubleup:

Car with 6K ECU should have a VIN code of GC8C4ED whcih would make it a regular STi 2

Greig 12-07-2010 10:58 PM

Could try here:doubleup:

Bull 13-07-2010 10:31 PM

Firstly the MY96 RA (aug 95-aug 96) came in 3 differant types:
WRX RA chassis code GC8C47D
WRX STI RA V2 chassis code GC8C4DD
WRX STI RA V2 V Limited chassis code GC8C4DD

The WRX RA didnt come with roof vent or dccd where as the other 2 did. The v limited also had the signed seats, limited edition number
The main things to look out for when buying an RA is that it MUST NOT HAVE an areial on the passenger side rear quarter or a rear wiper. they were not available on any RA. The areial should be on the drivers side A piller.

A True RA wont have side skirts, spoiler, any electrics or air con but as these were available on the extras list many RA'S do indeed have some or all of these extras.

jonnyricer 21-07-2010 12:02 AM

or gc8-039264=vin sorry

As quoted above "Car with 6K ECU should have a VIN code of GC8C4ED which would make it a regular STi 2"

So there's your answer..STi Version 2

yep i would go along with that:yeah:

jonnyricer 21-07-2010 09:37 PM
