It is very easy for it to go wrong. The standard of driving is poor, the lack of marshaling and also less maintained cars being stressed and dropping fluids... As long as you treat it as a fast country road and not a race track on TF days and drive being prepared that there is something unexpected around the corner you should avoid most accidents. It is a very special circuit though There's nothing that matches the length, the gradients and speeds.
Must admit I'm going to be taking it easy on the Ring this year and can't wait to get there!

Think if it goes wrong there it's almost guaranteed. There's such little run off most of the way round you'd be extremely lucky to come off and not hit anything unfortunately.

As above just drive it like its a fast road, no point in really pushing it. It's a really nice fast road though I will be bringing the 888's!

You may also want to invest in a blow up doll that looks like you to sit in the passenger seat during a ring lap.

Steve can probably also find a use for it in the room whilst you stay in the bar.

That's bought back memories of Worzel and Jay's blow up doll being hung out of the window on the Belgian motorway, nearly wet myself laughing at the strange looks we got from the other road users

Default Granby

Granby you have some track time to catch up on after 2 years. I think Thursday when we arrive & Friday will be our better days . Saturday & Sunday may be a little to busy. There's been a late cancelation [one of the RCM guys] so Ray & Neil now have a room. Im now billy no mates & have a double to myself. At least that way I cant get any complaints from roomies about my so called snoring.

Front brakes are more than good enough to stop the car on their own, I just won't be able to brake hard on a corner

Did anyone have to email ADAC their details for them to email them back? Managed to get through first time, they called me back and I jotted the address down. Sent email but it was returned from ADAC saying mail recipient unknown. This was the address I copied down, guessing I've got something wrong..... Adac/regensburg@sby.adac.de

Can anyone help as I'm rapidly losing patience trying to get hold of them again.

Thank you

Try on Monday as Germany have their early May bank holiday on the 1st May so it was last Thursday. Most people book the Friday off as holiday though to get a nice long weekend (i speak to Germans daily as part of my job )

Also, no idea whats going on at the Ring today but apparently its been closed a lot - they had a problem with their emergency phone number working so couldn't let people out.

Also just seen this picture on facebook (from Bridge to Gantry) - insane queues to get off!! Not good sitting in a queue like that with hot engines, brakes etc and not able to cool down!

Sounds good apart from the 24km bit.
Having done 14km around bedgebury pinetum several times I think 24km of similar terrain would be a major struggle.

Bike hire is cheap enough though so would consider a less formal ride out.

I'm interested, used to do a lot of MTB trails etc but i've barely ridden in the last 5 years so not sure the legs would cope with 24km either!

Sounds fun though!

Don't think it would be fare on the drivers though as steves passenger this year, I know I would feel bad having him peddle me round

You reckon we'd get the bike in the scoob with all of the other gear that'll be in it?

There's got to be space for the return journey for beer supplies too

Could well be up for that... Would love to take my bike but not sure the rack on the back would help the fuel economy on a 600 mile round trip!!

Golf too small for extra set of wheels, what with a boot that has shrunk because of 4wd, a rear brace and chunky seats that take up most of the interior.

Feels slow after the Scoob as well now, even with 290bhp. Guess my cams will have to be changed soon, possibly evena turbo conversion.

They're completely fine in damp conditions unless there's a lot of standing water. Then they're not..

Bah, GP version not available for Android yet. Might get the middle version as I want the video overlays

I assume its accurate on the overlays? Looking at here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ys.laptimerpro

The vid screenshot says Schwedenkreuz when the car is at Breidscheid - only about 4 miles out!

my BT data is a little slow but GPS is relatively accurate.. you can plug an external GPS device in via Blutooth/Wifi etc. I think that has 1HZ refresh rate.

Examples on my Youtube channel.. for acuracy of corners etc, (look at SPA) you can of course scew the overlay manually as well.

It will still do some nice overlays, just missing a bit of engine data, the ram mount is ace!.. I might try an external mic this time..
