Group B rally car video footage
I found this series of Group B rally car videos (one program split into 9) on Youtube. If your old enough to remember these 20 year old monster cars pushing 300 to 600 bhp and banned for being too quick then your love this. I think its episode 5 a private collection of all the group B cars is brought together. The link below is the 1st, then you can find 2 to 9 in the menus... Enjoy!

Cheers Skullfudge,
I found the website 'Slowly sideways' who still run Group B cars at certain events throughout Europe. Theres a few events coming up with even one in England. http://www.slowlysideways-gb.co.uk/ Probably your last chance to see these beasts at play before they get put into private collections or goto car heaven. |

Never heard of that club!.
I have seen many Group B cars in action over the years and crewed with Steve Palmers in the European Rallycross when he drove the 4.6 Ltr Goodman powered Metro 6R4. Was a great experience to be surrounded by cars such as the S1, T16, RS200, Delta, 2+2 etc. 1987 was a real sad year for motor sport when they were banned. Ok the cars were quick but it was the rally organization that was the cause, not the cars. Very few driver's were killed by many spectators died due to lack of crowd control. Rallying has never been the same and it will never be anything like as popular as the 80's. In actual fact I would not be surprised if world rallying stops altogether within the next 10 yrs. It's the same crap that is spoiling F1. The 80's & 90's had proper looking & sounding cars. Now days there is far to much emphasis directed to driver safety. All driver's realise the dangers and ALL drivers would much prefer silly power & and a shed load of downforce. |
