Default My new car

Not to everyones taste but after a day out at mercedes world, and after having some fun in the snow i decided to go back down the drift route, its been bugging me for a while now but they were the last two things to make me sell my scooby

So after being carless for a while and eventually finding one i liked i finally picked up my s14a a couple of days ago, took it for its first proper drive today and loved every minute of it

Well here's some pics, still abit rough round the edges and i haven't even washed it yet but im happy, its got lots of potential and has already got some goodies on it, but as i say not to everyones taste but after a few months it'll look abit different and once the spring comes ill start work on the paint

its not running alot, its about 287 at the wheels and thats on low boost, got the dyno graph but hopefully ill get it rolling roaded in the summer for my own piece of mind, not going to fiddle around with the boost or anything till its all been checked out, just got to put my own mark on it really to make it mine but the first thing is a nice set of wheels, just to find the right size to fit over the front brakes, then it needs tidying up paint wise, have got some more plans for it but all in good time

Right started on the car yesterday, mostly removing the bodged stereo parts and the spaghetti junction wireing

firstly took out the seats, sub and some general spare bits the guy gave to me with the car

Some before and during pics

took the carpets out and discovered a slight leak lol nothing to major but another job to add to the list, then its onto removing the wireing

then once that was out it was onto the front to check the wireing for the deffi guages and other parts, turned out it was worse than the rear, the power for the guages was wired into the stereo took out the old stereo and the guages stopped working, plugged the iso lead back in and they worked fine, anyway sorted now and cut down on the wireing too so its abit tidyer

All back together now and looking slightly better, just got to fit my own stereo and thats pretty much it for the interior

Had some sideways fun today aswell, spins up so easily in the wet even with massive tyres

Nice one Andy, lovely car, had a few rear wheel drives in my long list of performance cars that I have owned and they are so much fun, you seem to have found a good one there.

Why in gods name was there so many wires just to power this attrocity? Looks like they based the sub on a turntable!

its an active sub designed to go under a seat or in small spaces so why the bloke used it in the boot is a mystery, the other amp was to power the rest of the speakers but they were set up wrong anyway so it would of sounded **** to begin with, but at least its all out now so i can put my own stuff in and set it up right, only other upside is it looks like its got a decent set of speakers but there probably blown anyway judging buy the rest of the audio stuff lol

Default Project derustification

Well with many 200sx's they normally suffer with rust, i knew there was some rust on mine ie arches, passenger wing and a few bits here and there but wasn't planning on starting on it till the weather started to pick up, untill now.

This is what happens when the previous owner uses the wrong jacking point with the wrong type of jack, manages to puncture through the sill, then leaves it and lets it corrode away

Before

I was abit reluctant to post these but i guess it'll go to show how the cars going to be coming along. Anyway it was booked in to the garage to have some welding done and a general check over to make sure everything was ok, the welding came out ok considering the sill had to be made, some of the inner wing and a subframe mount. Then it was sealed inside and out

After (sorry about the pic quality)

The rest of the car wasnt too bad just some surface rust so once the summer comes itll be getting rubbed down and waxoyld to protect again.

Default New wheels

Well got my new wheels yesterday, not entirely what i was looking for but they were cheap and i needed to replace mine so for 4 mint wheels and 4 new tires i cant complain really and they'll do for now only downside is that there a bit on the bright side to say the least but they can allways be resprayed

sorry about the quality they were quick pics from my phone

I was in London the other day and I saw 2 911''s, a 355 and an Aston in the same paint.
The Aston looks awesome.
There is something about the finish that looks very stealthy !

Yeah i know what you mean, not sure what the plan is atm still debating the matt black look, depends on how the paint is after i machine it, got some other work to do on it first though.

well there all cleaned up and actually fit over my brakes so all test fitted ready to be bolted on and what happens........................................... .................................................. the wheel brace is too big to fit in the nut holes it managed to fit in the other wheels holes so now ive got to find a socket thatll fit them, must say though they do actually look rather tasty, might keep them like it.

Sorry its been a while havent really updated my car thread at all so thought it was about time i did, anyway been doing a few bits to it mostly unseen and just general repair really anyway what ive done so far since last time:

Got a new splitter and sprayed it up
Fixed the leaky boot after eventually finding where the water's comming in
Replaced all the rubbers on the exhaust
Went to replace the downpipe but dosent fit that well so i stuck with the old one
Sprayed the old wheels
Underseal underseal and more underseal

Thanks to chunk for helping me clean up the engine bay, looks stunning now.

Also been doing some digging and talking to a few people on SXOC, i originaly thought it was running 287, thats what it said on the dyno but had a look at the date and it was before alot of the work was done, anyway after a chat with some of the guys on sxoc i gave them the list of mods and turns out it should be running between 350 and 400bhp, thought it felt abit quicker than 287 lol so well chuffed with that but at the end of the day its only word of mouth and dosent really count but it feels quicker than the rex i had and that was around 300bhp

Also gave it a good clean at the weekend and took it to the usual places to get some pics,

heres what it was like when i got it

and now

Dosent really look like ive done alot on paper lol but its taken alot of hours to get it to how imo it should look, but unfortunatly the scooby bug has bitten for the 3rd time and looks like its going to be up for sale in a few days, if i could keep 2 cars id deffinatly have this one and the new scoob but i cant so ill be looking for a newer scoob this time, going to be an sti hopefully or possibly a classic again but we'll just have to wait and see

Got lots more pics to sort out plus the detail on it and chunks merc detail so thell be up soon, must say i did develop a soft spot for the merc once it was done lol, so theyll all be up once ive finished editing
