I am on the Eagle F1s as well (following advice on here and Scoobynet), although I had Kumho Ecstas on before and they were good too. Have a look on tyre review sites and see what you can find within your budget - Eagle F1s tend to go for around £80-85 per corner fitted via blackcircles etc.

I really rate the Uniroyal Rainsport 3's for a daily driver.

AD08R's if it's a second car

We had the rain sports on the mini and they were great tyres, I’m considering them for the Legacy when it needs new shoes!
I have always rated the Toyo T1r’s on both the Impreza and Legacy but also rate the Hankook V12 Evo’s and I had them on both cars (current tyres on the Legacy)

I run Falken Ziex ZE-914A (summer tyres) on Foz. I must admit I had never any complaints during the summer period of operations but had a bit of scary moment yesterday when the car refused to stop on the T-junction in front of the approaching bus . I had to accelerate in front of the bus which she did better than stopping but still using a different trajectory I meant to perform. So this brings me to the thought that AWD + "hold mode" are not substitution to the winter tyres on the road conditions like we saw these days .
