Octane
How long can petrol be left in a car before the octane level starts to drop? My Scoob has done 10 miles this year and I don't think I've put petrol in it since November, honestly can't remember, it was that long ago.

I’ve started to drive mine more now, after realising that I done less than 1500 miles last year. Hard to justify paying the tax and insurance and not using it. That and the flat battery was driving me mad!

I've done less than that mate so i know how you feel. 400 of mine were bringing it back from Cardiff and trips to SMD Mine costs me loads and owes me loads and all it does is keep the garage company! I got a trickle charger to overcome the flat batteries. Many more piercing alarms after I'd jumped it and I'd have gone deaf I think. Hope to use it more this coming year by getting to more events and meets.

Always said I would drive the new STi more, but haven't done masses of kms. Almost never take it out in the wet, just use our Captur. It is always garage and on a cteck trickle charger. Good thing is that when you do take her out it's so much fun.

I have SORN mine and its tucked away in a garage, still insured. I did debate uninsuring it.
My only other dilemma is that the garage is near the sea so I wonder if its better just to keep it on the drive and put up with the winter as the salt in the air may cause rust. It has a couple of covers on it and I was going to put a heater in there to get rid of moisture. I started to google air moisture salinity - then I just confused myself and thought if its in the garage I have to wash it less. Last edited by nikkinokkinoo; 16-02-2018 at 11:15 AM. |
