I have the chance of buying a set of revolution milleniums 18x8 ET48 with 225/40/18 toyo proxes R888 , I know I will need to change the tyres to 215/35/18 as my type r is lowered would I need to get my arches rolled due to the width of the wheel .

Yes.
ET51 are very close and depends on tyre manufacturer and their sidewall design.
ET50 or less and 8 inch will require rolling.

Personally I prefer Revolutions in 17's on a classic. The face of the wheel is very flat and doesn't suite the classic so well.

I've been searching round trying to find the image I saw of 18's where they looked strange/too flat. It may just be the colour choice, being a bit dark.....

However, during the search I have found some very nice images, with some referencing 8x18. you may get away with it if you stretch 215/35's on.

I could run 40's but I would need to raise the car a little bit to get to sit the right height .

You can't run 40's on 18's on a classic without rubbing.
The tyre will interfere with the arch before making contact with the Bumpstops.

Whats the price on those wheels/tyres Scotty?

Could be interested in the tyres if they work out well priced (and maybe the wheels too if you don't have them )
