Default noob questions part 1

hi all , being new to scoobs I have a number of hopefully easy to answer questions -

1 - when disconnecting battery is it likely I will need the code for the keypad at all when I reconnect ?

I don't have the code yet as previous owner didn't have it and I only just got the v5 so haven't had time to nip up to Subaru yet to get the code

2 - mine is a 05 wrx300 2.0 ppp ,, I read somewhere that uk300 cars need an extra board to remap the ecu but fairly sure mine being a later wrx300 the ecu can be remapped as normal , can anyone confirm ?

No, you won't need the code. the battery has been changed numerous times on mine and i've never needed it.

UK300 were bugeyes (~2001) so different to your WRX300. The bugeye cars had an extra board added to the ECU by Prodrive to manage boost control (crudely ) as part of the PPP. This would have been removed if the car as remapped again so the original ECU could manage the boost again.

You won't have this on a blobeye as Prodrive changed the way they did it in approx 2003 - your ECU can be mapped as normal.

Ive got to take the drivers seat out to replace the foam bolster ,, presuming just remove battery then leave car for ten mins or so to avoid triggering any srs/airbag issues before unplugging seat ?

Has the seat definitely got airbags in? There was two styles of seat (on the bugeye at least) - one with airbags, one without.

The one with airbags was shaped differently, with a separate adjustable headrest. The one without airbags had a one-piece back with integrated headrest (if that makes sense).

Disconnect the battery and try cranking the car, that should discharge anything that is holding a bit of backup power.

I'd leave the battery off 30min to one hour, rather than 10min
