Biggest waste of time
Just take it easy for 5 mins before you switch off ![]() |

I've heard they're illegal now, or maybe its just that insurance companies won't insure you with one? The guy i was talking to could well have been talking out of his ****. Either way, just sit in it for a minute while its cooling down. I wouldn't feel happy getting out of the car and leaving it running.

See I thought this and tbh all I do is ease off her before getting home for the last couple of miles and then let her tick over for a min or so, being all new to me I was just wondering I have been told they are pretty bullett proof if you dont "abuse" them too much

If your taking it easy for a mile or two just switch it off as it'll get hotter sitting still then when you pulled up

I alwys let it tick over for a minute or so regardless of how i've driven her. If it'll get a bit more life out of the old girl then i don't mind upsetting my neighbours every time i get home

the engine might get a bit warmer possibly but the idea of letting it tickover for a minute is to ensure your turbo has a fresh supply of oil being circulated - turbo wont get hotter if not being used on idle and if by chance your turbo is really hot from the drive letting it tickover for a minute or two will stop oil overheating within and drying out etc and maybe even glazing the oilways on the turbo - always worthwhile to do as well as driving off boost for last few minutes of a journey where possible |

And in a couple of miles the turbo would of had cold air round it and loads of oil so no point in sitting there on idle.
It's a personal choice , mines drive at 2k revs for 3 or 4 mins before turning off. People should make their on conclusion and do that ![]() |

Makes sense what ur saying fella tbh and thats what I usually do seems the easiest way to do it as well.... as long as u dont blast it home and turn her straight off was my theory
