Default Bugeye after market stereo size

Howdy
Can anyone tell me if an aftermarket stereo will fit straight into a bugeye dash ?
I have an old single din sony that I was going to put in just until I get a double din stereo but it's too wide for the hole ?
Many thanks
Paul

I've got one in my bug mate, but mine went into a place near me and had it all fitted with new stereo and speakers all round, they did have to buy a surround thing and take the old surround of though

Should fit in but you take Subaru surround off, then take the Subaru cage and stereo out, then the aftermarket stereo should bolt onto Subaru stereo brackets then you can mount all back in dash. Finally clip Subaru stereo dash surround back in.
