Default SUMO close workshop!

Quote:
We would like to announce that we intend to close our Rye workshop activities from public use this week.

While the workshop has been popular with our customers we have decided to close it to enable us to focus on Sumo's main business of mail order parts.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our loyal customers, aside from the customer workshop - its business as usual.

If you have any questions please contact our sales team.

Thank you

Looks like mail order for parts only now

I could never understand the logic of that place.

Bit like setting up "The Stella Clinic For Frostbite" in the Amazon Jungle.

That's a shame. A sign of the times I guess. Their overheads for that side of the business must be enormous.

Need the space to expand the race teams i wonder? Seems a quick decision as they were only doing their best to sell their services to all of us 2 months ago.....

And also surprised you've not had a personal phone call Nige!

Possibly ran out of decent mechanics.

If that Gary bloke that nearly drove my P1 off the rollers was anything to go by.

I was 5hitting myself the whole time I was there if I were honest. !!

You can't beat RCM. IMHO

Total different level of anything else I have seen anywhere (as a few of you now know)

Not too clear other than 'workshop activities' what exactly is going to happen down there?

If the unit itself is still going to be operational, perhaps meets/events will still be held there?

Martyn, have you phoned and questioned about your paint job, if the unit is still 'operational' they may still be doing some form of works. Seems odd to do the write up on the prototype not long ago, especialy as they mentioned the paintwork side IIRC, only to close the facility beforehand?

Fingers crossed they can still sort you out mate we were all expecting a great service and finish from them........

Reading the website, looks like the development side of things and manufacture and sale of products will continue..... the GT86 looks an interesting project, especially as most of the developed products 'should' be the same for the BRZ...

Any more news on what if anything will be at JRM/Sumo Rye yet?

Bit disappointing that even with having them on the forum as a sponsor! we've not heard anything directly

The Sumo Workshop has now closed for customer work, The Sumo Mail order parts side of the company will run as normal.

The JRM Race team has grown and more room is needed for them.

It is a shame as we got to meet some real nice people and see some amazing cars.

Cheers Dan

What about the chances of Martyn getting his car painted on return from the ring?

Are you still taking in work, engine builds, paintwork side or has the whole customer car side of things been closed?

Great news that the race side will continue and good to hear that mail order parts will also continue

Will the meets / events still take place? I'm sure that the venue, race car side of things would still be a huge draw and great continued promotion for JRM/Sumo....

The Bodyshop will still be operational, But I am unsure myself if they will be taking on any customer work just yet. I will try and get some more info for you on that for you Pieman and let you know

The rolling road/ Engine builds and meets etc will not be available for now, I am not sure if they will be looking into doing something in the future but as it stands they are no longer.
