Default SES Rolling Road Day - 29th Sept 2012

Proposal is to run a SES rolling road day at Surrey Rolling Road www.surreyrollingroad.com/ on Saturday 29th September.

I expect we will need a minimum of 8 - 10 cars to make this worthwhile, so I will start a list.

Price wil be confirmed at later date, expect to be around £35 per car.

Attendee's :
1. SilverSurfer

I'll come along for a gander (and pizza) but probably won't put the car on the rollers, not had anything changed since it last went on!

If Simons there I might put mine on... Possible tweak, otherwise I will come up and watch.

Even if you haven't changed anything it's always a good idea to have a run to make sure it's fueling ok etc.

I'll be there for the pizza

I'll probably pop along to meet some people and have a poke around some cars but mine will be on Charlies rollers in two weeks so I doubt i'll change anything by 28th.

I'm sure Scott will confirm, but SRR normally take all payments on the day, sure it will be fine to just turn up with cash

When I've done days there before, it's cash on the day. But make sure the agreed number of people turned up, as one forum day I went on 10 to 15 were supposed to go and 3 turned up!

Don't think charlie was very happy, understandably. if we are short on numbers I might be able to bring my golf r32 up as well if I get mot, tax and insurance sorted on it by then. Also got mate with Clio v6.

I'll probably do it, as the car feels down on power at the moment, so will be interesting to see if something is up with it.

Too early to say a definate yes though at the moment

i have not had it long and come across some bodges from the last owner i just wish had been fixed right and have only done 40 miles in 3 weeks so will be its longest journy
Ah I see. Always the trouble with 2nd hand cars isn't it mate, there's only so much you can look at and find out before making a decision. Spent a good few grand on mine getting it up to a standard where, as far as I know, nothing needs doing on it. The dyno run is my last test if you like to see if all is well or not. Fingers crossed.

Is yours running ok and that or you having troubles with it?

Right, this is only a few days away so we better sort out some plans. Please read the following points and i'm sure everything will go smoothly

- We will all meet at Surrey Rolling Road at 10am.
- SRR is located at Unit 120 Qinetiq, Chobham Ln, Chobham Lane, Chertsey, Surrey KT16 0EX.
- Upon entry, please park in the car park on the right (before you go through the Security hut/barriers). We will gather here then walk round to the SRR building before getting the cars on the rollers.
- Be prepared to hang around for most of the day. We will most likely run all the classics in a group, all the newages in a group etc, as it saves time adjusting the rolling road for different wheelbase lengths all the time. The order of running is unknown at the moment, so apologies if you need to wait until the afternoon.
- Please fill in a form beforehand and bring it on the day! (See Silversurfer's post above!).
- Bring the £35 cash with you for Charlie.
- Bring some spare money for lunch. Normally we'll just order a load of pizzas and have them delivered. If you don't want to join in the pizza, bring something else.
- If people want to meet up at Pease Pottage services and convoy from there, be at PP and ready to leave for 9am. We'll then just follow M23/M25 up to SRR.

There's a few newbies on this list so please introduce yourselves on the day. Also, can you post up whether you are meeting at PP at 9am or SRR at 10am (so we don't leave without anyone!), plus what car you will be in so we know how many classics/newages there'll be etc.

Thanks folks

I'll be a bit late as I can't get away until 10 - I think I know my way there !

Not sure which car at the moment might be the bug now if Sian needs the Forester.

i may meet you all at Pease Pottage (Mica Red bugeye wagon), but don't wait for me, depends how responsive the misses is at getting up, seeing she has been to SSR a few times now, i think the enthusiasm may have died off. Golf R32 is going to have to stay at home as still in bits, so will just be the scoob.

If i miss you at Pease Pottage, i'll see you all at SSR.

I'll be the clueless idiot that will be half asleep.

Looks like I will be bringing the Bug now (at least I wont be in the lowest powered car now!).

Question for C.J though.... As I have no tow points on the back of the car at present (due to removing towbar) will you be able to strap it down or do I need to get under the car in this rain and fit the brackets I have?

Just to let you know when you exit the m25 come down the dual carrage way and turn left at first roundabout let your satnav have a spaz then at next round about turn left take the little road 5m into that road on the right . Hopefully your satnav will then reroute you to the rollers .
The reeson for this was on the news , the round about next to the hospital collapsed with all the rain and the road is going to be closed for sometime .

Thanks for the heads-up CJ - but turn right at the second roundabout? I guess you mean go up Fox Hills Rd?
