Today was first time I really saw car, spent sometime accessing and looking at it etc but couple of hours work also spent on it and chuffed with purchase and progress.

Rear subframe, steering column, steering rack, steering wheel, hubs etc installed and now sits on its own wheels, except there not as they are borrowed lol
Entire loom then pretty much removed.

Many thanks to stew and bod for working on it with me

Simon

I did consider returning it to standardish spec about 400 and using it daily but the 2door is not ideal for everyday use that I do.

Bit of progress today, fairly pleased.

Loom fully removed - big weight in that lot

Soundproofing removed

Then removed rear wiper and motor which is forsale with rear screen too if anyone wants to retro fit a rear wiper?

Then stew arrived and offered the use of his plasma cutter for the next job on the list

Simon,
Keep the photos coming.
This exciting. It's like a weekly dose of the Beano. I couldn't wait for the next one when I was a kid.
It's like a eastenders for blokes and a practical supplement to top gear.

Mind you - you've taken so much out it's like automobile anorexia...

When it's done I would be interested to know the weight comparison.

nothing, it is currently tucked up in my garage..

basically to do what I want to do I would need to take the car off the road (the green one) and rip it apart.. it is a UK shell so has underseal and with all my stripping of the car it matched a fairly unstriped type r weight for weight at 1230kgs.. yes I have a cage but had stripped out a lot of weight.. so to do the green car properly I would need to strip it to a bear shell and be without my car for a few months realistically.. and I hate that..
I also have always wanted to scratch the 2door itch.. and this one came along cheap..
so here it is

There is no point me having two cars of similar ilk.. they don't sell complete, so all the best bits off the green car will be put into this new one ansd the remains of the green car parked up in case I need it / want to build something else in future.

Bit done today

Cleared the engine bay fully

Removed the rear bumper and bumper bar

Then started fitting rear arches

I can't wait to see where this project goes. It's gonna be a stunner.

So, question!.....

.....Colour?

Will it be Green again, as in your logo green? That would look stunning

A nice set of white alloys would finish that off beautifully

It will be green sent colour change off on logbook.

Possibly engine bay in white to aid fluid spray spotting and interior to match for same reason. Lol

few parts bought and engine decision made

intercooler

engine

using this engine will delay the car being complete but seem silly to fit 2.3 and then pull it apart at some point in the future to fit the new engine.

not 100% as if it took ages to get built which is likely with cams having to be made and waiting on custom rods and new mahle pistons it was going to have the 2.3 dropped in but decided it's silly to rush

Thats going to wicked mate, will be interesting to see what sort of power and torque it makes. Cat cams may be worth speaking to about the cams, they make hollow camshafts to keep the weight down and they will make them to any spec. They should be able sort out some vernier pullys too if there any diffrent to EJ20 etc?

cams are in progress.. last I heard the cnc machine program was being written.

they are very different.. the exhaust only have cam wheels and a cambelt.. the inlets are driven by a cog wheels from inlet to exhaust.. all will be revealed as it gets built I suspect.. so adjustable cam wheels become an issue as you adjust the exhaust wheels but it also effects the inlet.. possibly looking at offset keyways etc to allow adjustment of the inlet cams too
