Are you WRX or STi?
If WRX - then the VF35 (good for 330 ish) from the STi would be a nice upgrade. If you want to spend big money, (£1300+) then SC32 (320 ish) / SC38 (380 ish) / SC42 (420 ish) Or Laterals MD321T (upto 450 ish) is where I will be heading when funds allow ![]()

It is...
Uprated fuel pump, STi VF35 turbo, Pink injectors, decent panel filter, maybe change exhaust, Class 7 plugs, good remap and you'll be near 320-330 bhp I would imagine with no probs... Certainly turbo, and remap (a must IMO if changing turbo e.t.c.) and you'll be well on your way for prob less than £900 ![]() Everyone has there own way of doing things, and various routes... I know before I went power, I made sure every bearing, bush, gasket and mechanicals were all replaced and uprated as after all the car is 14yrs old! Build a solid foundation, and it will cope with the rest ![]()

I'd suggest like above a VF35 (or 34) turbo to reach around 330BHp - however you need to factor in:
Don't forget WRX gearboxes are pretty weak (350 is about the recommended limit) plus the internals don't like 370BHP! (experience speaking). Do the maths and have a good think is it best to tune what you have or sell it and buy STI (better brakes, suspension, gearbox, diffs, internals) - I know what I'd do now if I could travel back in time having got my WRX to 450!

Don't forget it needs to stop as well so factor in a set of STI Brembos as the 4 pots struggle to stop a Classic which is a lot lighter.

Yeah thats the plan really. I had the car for a day when the bottom end went on it, I was going to sell it but I decided to get a new bottom end engine and then had some work done as the following.
• performance clutch •12mm uprated oil pump •new cambelt and bearings •platinum spark plugs •all new gaskets its running full decat as well. The next plan is • walbro fuel pump •pink sti fuel injectors •sti TMIC •3 port boost solenoid •remap (of course) •oil cooler I was sure about a cold induction kit ? What's people thoughts on a induction kit? I really want a sti but didnt have the money at the time really. I have put so much into that I want to keep it and then see how I like it |

Sound advice above, I sold a VF35 and an Sti top mount to to a guy on here who was looking to up-rate his WRX, after some 'hefty' treatment when battling a Porsche the clutch, then gearbox, decided their time had come...
Is now a good time to mention I have some redundant pink injectors if you are interested?! |

Brembo setup isn't necessarily the best but they are readily available for a reasonable price compared to other options.

I'm assuming you already have an STI up-pipe (along with the other bits previously mentioned above by BlueBugEye?
A well tuned wrx running 330/340 bhp is an easy match in straight line performance for an STI running 360/370 btw the weight saving keeping the 5 speed is around 40kg! Brembo's with good disc/pad combo would be top of my to do list with the above, the standard 4 pots are pretty useless at those sort of power levels.

I didn't realise that about the weight difference, so thanks for that. I need to change my brakes anyway I just didnt realise that the standard 4 port wont be good enough so I will get bigger brakes on it first. What would be the cost of getting it mapped to make it a good but safe, at fbtuning with a dyno run after all the mods have been put on if you know? Thanks |

If your looking 330/340bhp the standard Brembo calipers are fine but you need to uprate the disc and pads or at least the pads to uprated items as the O.E Brembo disc and pads are useless above 300bhp when used hard.SJ.

The De-Cat up-pipes sold by the likes of Magnex are far to big a bore and kill spool, STI up-pipe or Harvey matched pipe from Alyn are the best bets.

Depending on which way you go a map is usually around the £350 mark and a dyno Run is usually around £80.SJ.

+1 as per both comments above, Rich will see you right for the mapping and can help with fitting the parts also if you need,
S.J. Is spot on about the standard brembo discs and pads too, I'd recommend some pfc z11 pads and a good quality aftermarket disc. You can often pick the brembos up for around £400/450 from reputable breakers.

2-port with the right sized restrictor pill works fine.
3-ports just give your mapper a slighty easier time but both achieve the same result. Standard cat up-pipe restricts the boost to 1bar at high rpm on a VF35. The gasses cannot exit fast enough. Any more boost causes pre-ignition regardless of timing advance. I call it pre-ignition and not detonation as it's not the timing/spark igniting but the exhaust gas backlog due to the cat. |
