Default My Visit to Surrey Rolling Road!

Hey just!

Just back from Surrey Rolling Road!

What a morning I've had!

Arrived and was greeted by Duncan who set about the car right away.

First thing, he replaced a few of the vacuum hoses for some nice blue silicon hosing as the horrid stuff used before was proper nasty.

Then the put the car on the dyno.

As I said on my welcome page the car was apparently over boosting: in 4th and 5th if i was doing 50/60 or so and put my foot down the car would dump the boost.

Duncan was unable to get an accurate before read of the car due to this and she would only show around 225bhp or 268bhp at best.

Duncan set about checking the Perrin boost controller as it looked like it was wired up wrong - this wasnt the case in the end and they ended up replacing the boost controller - then it was good.

They remapped it and needs to say I'm happy as larry with the result:

Nice

If you're still on the original turbo (TD04) then that's a superb figure!

I bet it feels like a different car to drive now, as Steve says, circa 300 on a TD04 is bloody good.

Yeah it's the standard turbo.

It feels more refined than before. It was a bit unruly before now the power is delivered much smoother.

The engine is a hyrbid wrx with an sit bottom end and internals. Then the customary cone filter and ninja straight through exhaust.

I think there may be more I'm missing through lol

Will get a complete list and put em up when I know for sure.

It's much happier in 4th and 5th now and is quieter when cruising on the motorway.

Also the dump valve is quieter?

That's a great result, Duncan knows his stuff (this was the name I was after last night)

It looks from the graph like you made more torque than BHP! (305lb/ft at 3700rpm is sweet!) It should make for an awesome sauce road car with loads of grunt for overtaking. Interesting it was a faulty solenoid/boost controller,

With the strength of an STI bottom end and all the early spool and torque of the TD04 I think your on to a winner

Great stuff, you must be real pleased with the results! I am in the same boat as Lucky, need to get mine pushing some better figures too, lets just get the insurance renewal paid for this month first, I am not expecting good things from Adrian Flux if last year is anything to go by...
