Something RobEVO5 mentioned a while ago on a thread was Hubcentric wheel spacers. Anyone got any experience/views on them. They look a good idea and will bring my wheels further out into the arches but not sure how good/safe spacers are.

It will knacker your bearings quicker, as you move the load line through the bearing from vertical to an angle which is not great, but.. it does look nice when they are out at the edges

Ok, cheers dave. CDF racing seem to be a pretty good place for these so I will do a bit of research.

you may need to change your studs to longer ones as well, i think you need 5 turns of a nut to be safely secured, someone might correct me if i am wrong, but Jo isn't around to ask at the moment.
i run hub centrics on the back of my golf. good makes are ok, but read comments above about bearings, i don't feel safe using them on the front for track use due to the loads exerted. |

The wheel bearing issue is regarded as something of a myth.
They are used loads in the landy world, defender and disco drivers use them to both fit bigger wheels and to increase the turning circle. Loads of posts saying these kill the bearings, but on the flip side loads running them on full off roaders and challenge trucks say they have run them for years with no issues.

Thanks guys, and bearing in mind that the car generally gets light use and does 5k a year I dont think the potential bearing problem will worry me.

Hello Steve
I had the same dilemma/concerns as you. But there are tons of people (mainly in the US) fitting them to BRZ/GT86/Scion FR-S, and they've been on cars for up to two years now with no issues. I took the plunge and fitted hubcentric Eibachs, which are very good quality. I would not buy off Ebay! They need a little more maintenance, as you need to routinely torque the spacer nuts as well as the wheel nuts (unless you have longer studs). 10mm have longer studs, 15mm and above have additional nuts in the spacer. It's a cheap upgrade to get a better stance if you don't want to fit wider wheels. I have no issues with mine. Keith

Thank you Keith. Just what I needed to know. It's the wider stance that I'm after. I'll take a look at the eibachs too
