Seeing as I have a bit of time to kill I thought I'd ask if anyone has successfully claimed from East Sussex County Council for tyre damage?
I'm currently sat on the A22 at Wych Cross with 2 flat tyres thanks to a bloody great hole on Plawhatch Lane, RAC have quoted me 75 minutes response time ![]() |

I got a claim out of West Sussex (Well Southern Water after they passed the blame on as it was a bad repair after roadworks!) a while back.
Claimed for 2 wheels and tyres, tracking and track rod!

Currently sat in the Roebuck at Wych Cross, just realised I had my laptop in the car and there is wifi here.
Couldn't stop and take a picture as dark and dangerous, have helped out a nurse in a fiesta that did a n/s front and 2 further cars in the Roebuck car park with knackered n/s fronts. Apparentlhy there were another three down Plawhatch lane with the same problem. n/s rear went down straight away, changed that and 1/2 mile down the road the front had gone as well, RAC called, stated I had 2 knackered tyres and there were 3 of us in the car, they sent a man in a van who confirmed I needed a recovery vehicle, initial call made at 5pm, expected eta for recovery vehicle is 9:30 ![]() Could be worse, don't have to drive home and the bar is doing well out of us. |

Finally collected at 11:10, got home at 12:45AM, shattered is an understatement, looks like I'll be using the Scoob today, must remember where the hole is for the journey home

I bet that the council will bung some tarmac in it quick, as soon as they hear a whisper of the first claim for wheel damage ![]() |

Well, £147 later and I have 2 new tyres, still drives in a straight line and no damage to the wheel (those german alloys are strong). Have my claim form from West Sussex Council (ownership of the road changes from West Sussex to East Sussex about half way along). Just waiting for photos of the hole from someone else that hit it and managed to get photos the following day, apparently it was about 20cm deep. Scarily, the hole still hasn't been patched, but due to the amount of traffic that uses the road it has been opened up into a much bigger hole without the sharp edges that caused the damage.
Just glad I wasn't in the Scoob, don't think the ST2s with 45 profile rubber would have stood up so well and can't imagine I'd have been that successful in sourcing replacements. |
