Question import

Evening guys and girls. Just a quick 1. How can you tell if your classic Scooby is an import??

I believe you can tell by the bolt on rear fog,

also by the scoob having a rear windscreen wiper.

But I am not 100% sure

There could also be chop sticks in the glove compartment.

i found the chop sticks but they say N/A on them. and so if it doesnt have a rear wiper its not an import?

Aerial location, rear wiper, aftermarket rear fog , jap number plate are a big giveaway

the vin number is how you tell


- UK vin numbers are 17 digits where as jap vin numbers are 10 digits !

rear windscreen if original will also have a small blue circular sticker on it, which is the jap equivliant of our kitemark or BS standard. rear windscreens hardly get changed so if it's not there, it's probably not JDM

as above the VIN number is the easiest, all the rest can easily be changed/disguised........

Mines a JDM as it has Ariel on the rear passenger wing, rear wiper but no blue sticker in the window, previous owner must have removed it. I did have a fog light hanging down but I converted one of my reverse lights in the standard cluster to just tidy up the back end.

Thats what I did with the fog lights too, looks so much tidier.

The thing that's puzzled me on my import is its been in this country since 2007 and its got no rear fog light at all not even fitted with a outside hanging off the bumper 1 god knows its past its mot all these years now I've got fit 1 on it lol

they may have wired it into the rear lights.I swapped out my jap ones and fitted UK lights so i wouldn't have that awful fog hanging below the bumper.
