import

Evening guys and girls. Just a quick 1. How can you tell if your classic Scooby is an import??

BIG"E" 18-03-2013 10:10 PM

I believe you can tell by the bolt on rear fog,

also by the scoob having a rear windscreen wiper.

But I am not 100% sure

There could also be chop sticks in the glove compartment.

i found the chop sticks but they say N/A on them. and so if it doesnt have a rear wiper its not an import?

Aerial location, rear wiper, aftermarket rear fog , jap number plate are a big giveaway ;)

ajelliott 18-03-2013 10:53 PM

the vin number is how you tell

- UK vin numbers are 17 digits where as jap vin numbers are 10 digits !

Log book will tell u when it was shipped into this country and by who cos my import does.

ajelliott 18-03-2013 10:55 PM

oooohhh thankyou guys....

andy-m 19-03-2013 08:31 AM

rear windscreen if original will also have a small blue circular sticker on it, which is the jap equivliant of our kitemark or BS standard. rear windscreens hardly get changed so if it's not there, it's probably not JDM

asperformance 19-03-2013 08:57 AM

as above the VIN number is the easiest, all the rest can easily be changed/disguised........

majorscooby 19-03-2013 09:27 AM

Mines a JDM as it has Ariel on the rear passenger wing, rear wiper but no blue sticker in the window, previous owner must have removed it. I did have a fog light hanging down but I converted one of my reverse lights in the standard cluster to just tidy up the back end.

What year ?
Turbo or NA ?

they may have wired it into the rear lights.I swapped out my jap ones and fitted UK lights so i wouldn't have that awful fog hanging below the bumper.

SeanMcKnetic 19-03-2013 05:55 PM

JDM classics also have robotic side mirrors. Sometimes.
