What would be the best option after running a Td05 16g for a while . I have been looking at the sc460 billet on scoobyclinic , the MD321 series on lateral performance and the GT-420 on Andy Forrest performance aiming to achieve 420-450bhp on a forged engine running non vvt heads .

Will it be a 2.1? The Sc42 is very a very capable unit. Seen them achieve 480 odd on a 2.1

Any particular reason why? Purely asking out of interest mate, not questioning your decision
![]() I'd personally go sc42. Will get you the power you want.

My MD321x may be available soon, as a proven 450+ turbo on a 2.1 when it was on Angers car.

Essentially, I think it's the cost of the crank and machining to the block that's extra. Personally if it were me, I'd get it done.

Can you use a SCDB for a 2.1 stroker as been looking at more info and a CDB is used as it is a stronger engine .

Just found out from one builder it costs a lot more to build a 2.1 than to go the full forge route but still waiting on a reply from my builder to see what price he going to give me as he has gave me a good price to forge the engine I bought off him .

Interesting. Not had either done so I have no personal experience but from what i've read (in hours terms we're talking days if not weeks!) it's not much more. Not asking you to disclose your price but I know Engine Tuner do a 2.1 stroker for £4k. You drive your car there they do it, run it in for the first 50 miles, change oil then you pop it back for further oil changes (500 and 1000 I think) during running in period then they map it. They have a very good reputation too.

I think I will give a phone or email to talk to Alan Jeffery at Enginetuner for a price to see how much it will cost to do a 2.1 stroker on the sti8 SCDB then go from there .

You could just stick a stock STi8 bottom end in for your power target, all I'm doing with my new classic

That's what I've decided but just going to get it forged just to be safe as it works out a lot cheaper are mahle powerpak pistons a good choice to go with . What classic have you got now James .

Because the sti8 short block is already sitting waiting on me it doesn't need to be pulled out of the car and stripped its a lot less work for him to do which cuts the cost down a bit . Mind you the price will go up with the extra parts I will want fitted ready for the engine to drop in .
