Its not all about going fast
As some of you know, I don't do many miles, its all mainly around town, avoiding cyclists and pensioners. I used to make sure I took the scoob out every now and again to stretch its legs. Since selling it and getting the golf, I havent really had a spirited drive, until now!. BLOODY SHOCKING is the best way to describe the handling of a modern family hatch. Around town I had been thinking "yeah, this feels solid, safe, quiet and reasonably punchy". I had even thought of mapping it to get a few more horses, but now, there is no way. Even as standard its two quick for the chassis, suspension and wheels. It really does make you appreciate how well 'our old scoobs' handle, go and stop and how its easy to take it for granted that it will go around the corner without falling off the road, or you can even drop it down a gear and actually pass something rather than dropping it down a gear and pulling along side it to find that there is nothing left!!. Rather than going and spending even more money on making your scoob quicker, once in a while just get yourself down to your nearest mainstream dealer and take out a new family car and try to drive around some country roads at anything quicker than walking pace. I promise, you will scare yourself half to death!!!!!
RANT OVER!!!!
Now, back to pistonheads.
