Default engine management light on

hi, i have just driven to oxford and back and half way back the engine management light came on, the car still drives the same and it seems all good on tick over, i noticed it turn on when i let off the throttle, anyidea on what this could be?

Changed anything recently like air filter, induction or a diffrent BoV?

nope havent put my induction kit on yet as i know it needs mapping aswell, it done it a few weeks ago and turned back off on its own

Might be a sensor on its way out then, know anyone close with a Fault Reader?

dont worry mate some times after a thrash the engine management light will come on, its the lamba sensor it will go off in a few hours. i assume engine never went inti limp mode?

Speedo still OK? The engine check light came on in my classic when the speedo converted packed up and the speedo stopped reading. Went into limp mode too.

no didnt go in to limp mode,
il take it out a bit later and see what happens, if not then i will have to find someone that will plug it in

speedo is fine as is everything else apart from the light

Start it 3 times and on the 4th time of starting,

the light hopefully will go out unless something is wrong.

Its as well to get it connected to a fault code reader though.

light still hasn't gone out, will have to plug it in soon and see what the faults are

If it's decatted and not mapped it could well be the CAT Efficiency Error code (P0420).
Especially if it keeps happening, especially on long motorway cruise type runs.

yes it is decatted and went to API for a full rebuild and they asked me what mods were on it, last time it done it i lost power and light went back out, this time the car is running better than ever and it has stayed on

Unless they re-flashed the ECU and disabled the code it will continue happen when no cat is fitted.
You would of known about it if they re-flashed, as thay will of charged you for a remap and ECUTEK licence.

hmm not sure then, this is the 1st time its happened since i got it back in october, i cant afford a remap at the moment

I think the CAT Cell can take some time of sustained cruise style driving to raise it's head.

ok well i will take it easy until i can get a map, what code will come up if it is just down to not having a map when decatted?
