Default Insurance issue?

Hi all won't bore you with a long story, I very much doubt you can but is there any way of finding the owner of a car just from a reg number?

Also anyone know much about the m.i.d insurance database, been told there's a non fault claim against my name that happened last december with no other details what so ever, can't tell me who put the marker on there and they have no other details but they did give me a reg (I think by mistake) of a car involved weather it be my car or the apparent claimants they didn't know, well it isn't mine and no one wants to help me and I don't know how to solve this lie??

Not great at explaining things so hope that makes sense.

You cannot track an owner to a vehicle through public information as far as I am aware.

You may be able to report this to the police though if there's a suspicion of fraud or similar.

Ok thank you, I will wait to hear back from them as there looking into it if not then I think i'm going to.
I've got over 10 years no claims on 1 car and a 4 year mirrored on another. I rang to see if my other insures knew anything but they had no clue and no details of anything they said if anything had come through they would be chasing me for lying about having had a potential claim and not declaring.
This has only come to light as my boy put me on his insurance and they said its gone up £300 as I've had a non fault claim, I've renewed/changed cars this year and nothing's ever been said, doesn't make sense and it's very frustrating as you just get fobbed off all the time and no one wants to help.

Good point, is the claim against you or the car?

Hi Mate, I seem to remember a friend of mine had a similar problem some years ago and he got help from Citizens Advice consumer helpline. As said earlier, may be the police can help. Hope you get it sorted.

a member of public cannot get owner details via MIB
Police can do it via the police national computer

I think there is a service DVLA provide which they charge you for.

If its moley's direct number you're calling he'll just answer it with 'hello'

If you phone the main number, its Gary Moulson you want...

Can I just say a massive thank you to Gary moulson aka moley wrx for helping me out getting to the bottom of my problem. He done more for me in 10 mins then anyone else done in a week.

Turns out it's because I was a witness to an accident and has been put on the mid database as a non fault claim when it shouldn't have been, but in all fairness they did put it on saying I was a witness and it didn't involve me at all but because people can't read details properly admiral read it wrong and caused me unnecessary aggro.

So thanks a lot I really appreciate your help Gary
