Default The 'R'

Well it was going to happen...

As most know i had to sell my project to fund 'growing up' and buying a house,
So after selling the race car or should i say some of the race car parts it soon came that i could keep my poorly V5 type R.

The R lost compression and got laid up until i sorted house stuff out, Iv recently pulled her down in to the workshop for some TCL, The week it went bang the car was meant to go the body shop to have a re-spray (so shes looking a bit rough around the edges)

iv had the K-sport brakes kicking around, I said to myself if they fit under the gold wheels i am running i will fit them.......

yer they fit!! a lot more clearance that the O.Z P1 wheels,I really didn't want to run bright orange wheels on it, after trying i could be persuaded

So i set to the task of removing the engine which all went smoothly , which was a surprise as normally anything i do on my own cars is a struggle!

And its out

Engine wise i didnt know what i was going to do until i stripped down to find the cause, i had in the back of my head that it would be ring gland and something terminal.

Pulled off head this morning to find this...

so the plan is as follows
fit replacement valves cut in new seat ect re-shim heads and reassemble with new gaskets ect.

iv hopefully just brought a simtek ecu with anti lag and launch control+ sti8 top mount and i am looking for a vf35
I am going to port and wrap headers and up pipe, other than that throw it together and enjoy

saying all of that iv still got a 6 speed box some big injectors and been offered a MD321t cheep haha

Can't believe I nearly sold it

The plan is to get it done as soon as, so if its done in time I would be up for a play defo, still got loads of suspension stuff to go on which was left over from the white one roll bars ALK bushes throughout

Cj if u hear of any one selling a simtek/alcatek cause there going syvecs let me know, funds aren't going to stretch to syvecs Unfortunately

You may as well buy new as by the time you add roller time & mapping it'll work out the same

Today I striped down the heads started the clean up, Iv manage to get hold of some supertech +1mm oversized valves, double valve springs and retainers at a good price soon as they arrive I cut get them cut in and heads refaced, I brought some cosworth headgaskets and new bolts.

Looking for some steel cam pulleys today (which Iv got somwhere) I found some grp N engines mounts and new pulleys/Idelers for the cambelt, so there all on

Couple of pic of some progress

IV now removed and striped both heads, they are now ready for valves to be cut in and seated.

took a trip to London yesterday to pick up another set of cylinder heads up these have damaged castings but have 1 piece valves/double valve springs titanium retainers, so ive now stripped these for there goodies to be fitted to my heads

i have got the crinkle paint for the inlet manafold so i thought i give painting ago.......

here's the mess

stripped and ready for a clean up

should have it painted tomorrow all being well

Iv finally made a choice on turbo, iv got for a VF36 twin scroll (witch iv brought) , just in the process of finding all the relevant parts to make it fit

Put it this way the only reson its getting done is because it was off the car.
The worse part it the turbo intake hose (if running standard) pita to get back on without damaging.

I am waiting on heads to come back, cossy headgaskets should be here tomoz

I am still on the hunt for some twinscroll stuff aswell (headers/up pipe, down pipe)

Even thou I haven't moved in yet and been spending all my time DIYing, I dug the heads out and started shimming them up, I've got all the parts to finish off just lacking the time, hoping to see some progress on this

Sorry for the poor updates, as most know its all back together mapped and just had a full respray.

I had some issues on the dyno, The fuel pump couldn't keep up with the demand at high revs, so fitted a RCM jobbie.
Iam now changing back to an TD05 18G, i dont reqally get on with the twinscroll, the power deliverly is so smooth also I dont like the noise of equal length headers.

couple of pics will try and get some better pics up soon
