opinions on EBC brake pads and discs?
my front pads are squeaking and they look low so its time for a change.
looking at EBC red stuff front and rear pads along with the grooved and dimpled discs, anyone recommend EBC or another brand? cheers |

Wouldn't recommend EBC in green/red/yellow. The Blue NDXs aren't bad.
Better alternatives out there than red for sure. I'd personally go just grooved as well. |

When I've bought the pads myself I've always gone for the Ferodo DS2500s however these are not the cheapest option - I have had the EBC Ultimax's on the Legacy in the past (COuldn't get 'performance' pads for the OE callipers) and they were OK until pushed hard then faded badly.

Ebc are utter crap.
Ds2500 very good for fast sprints . Plain high carbon discs I’m not a fan of slotted/ drilled discs. Genuine Brembo pad / disc combo works well. Alyn is your man too for knowledge and supplying, |

EBC are out the window then
might try and go for some STI brakes as they are Brembo? just what ive seen so far online, along with some Brembo pads |

Wouldnt touch EBC brakes at all utter garbage in my experience.
Pagid RS29 is where its at (but they are not cheap) or Endless pads also not cheap. Ds2500 is more a fast road pad the DS3000 is a better but decent trackday/race pad, both of them are more aggressive on discs than the above mentioned Pagid pad. I assume the RS29 is available for standard Brembo, you would need to ask supplier, as above drop Alyn a line.

So from what I can tell the best R90 EU road legal pad is probably the brembo ones? DS2500 aren't road legal and Ferodo don't seem to publish operating characteristics of their only road-legal pad the DS Performance.
EBC have a lot of road legal pads, so I guess what the general impression is, is that most road legal pads can't cope with a Scooby braking heavy on track? Thanks for advice! Sent from my G8441 using Tapatalk |

Remember the reason a lot of the track focussed pads aren’t EU approved is that they are too good! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

knowing i am going to get lots of comments saying "you don't drive quick enough anyway! " can I throw in that I run Yellow Stuff, and they seemed fine at Brands and Lydden - although do wear quickly.
They also operate nicely on the roads and in normal driving situations.

200sx s14a (similar brake setup as subaru)
I've used Ferodo DS2500, back in the day, worked well. I had tried EBC yellow stuff on my old caliper set up. They where crap and I told EBC that and they said they had some complaints with the face coming away from the backing due to overheating of the bonding agent. So I tried other pads but didn't get the same pedal feel I had from the yellows. When I changed my brake set up to skyline R33's I tried the new age yellow stuff pads, same size pads as the wrx And I can report good results; morning session at lydden hill then 2 years nurburgring 15 laps and around 5000 Road miles, and car was moted 2 weeks ago with them on. I will replace with yellows and they have been good to my discs, with no scoring and low ware, Fronts are pagids and rears are from Alan. Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk |

They are good to a point, depends which z as they do z11, z08 etc they are all different compounds, Ian is still using 08 and likes them, I run 11 and 8's on the back of the Scoob with Brembos they have both fine,.. though I totally destroyed a set at Spa on the front a few years back.. apparently repeated 140mph to 50 in 100yards is not advisable... but in all seriousness I think that is more a limitation of the brembo caliper itself not releasing fast enough, replacing it was a big leap forward in breaking performance.

I had EBC - pony
Have Perf Friction now - awesome I have PBS in the Civic and they are really very good and pretty cheap. Not sure if they do them for the Scoob though. |

as in "Highlander" - there can be only ONE Z-rated material from PFC which is a very capable fast road type material the other materials that PFC offer are race type's and known purely by their 'code'

DS2500 for me for the last 10 years or so.
I did try performance friction on my Hawkeye but prefer DS2500 as a better alrounder. PF seemed to need a bit more heat in them to work, whereas DS2500 the transition is less noticeable. In a car thats more road than track DS were the best fit for me. |
