Exactly that it has remote locking/unlocking on the master key as standard but required a CAT1 alarm/immobiliser when entering/registering in the UK
All the innards of the fob seemed ok and the fob was working but was all taped up, nice new casing acquired and innards swapped over... Job done |

Now booked in to Roger Clark towards the end of the month for a service and health check.
Following on from Rich's main dealer service schedule its now due (overdue by date) a 100k service Will have only covered approx 2k since the last one though, so all should be good. Whats the betting a new rear arb goes on to replace the flakey whiteline one |

Cheers Phil, all down to the previous owner all i've done is start to clean it Its a cracking piece of kit, if its a box ticking exercise? it does very well indeed One of those cars that I honestly wish I had got earlier.
Forgot to update! Service went well at RCM, top job as always and a great day out, would recommend them to anyone. Everyone seemed to like the FSTi, especially Matt who actualy commented that "thats a bit of me that is, I really like that" I was surprised just how much he liked it Huge thanks to everyone at RCM as always.. No new rear ARB as they didn't have one on the shelf but, one is being found to suit the setup, along with some RCM floor mats made to fit Thanks for all the comments |

Well, its been a good few months of ownership under the belt and what can be said about the FSTi?
In truth........ Rich must really miss this car its been faultless as a daily driver and as expected (the reason it was purchased) he really did put together a stunning all rounder....credit where its due:thumbup: so, some small updates..... Had some small vibration under braking and after investigation it has been necessary to change the front discs and pads..... so a quick trip up to RCM and some new grooved / dimpled discs and pagid blue's soon sorted the problem only fitting that the rears had to match:thumbup: so the same was fitted at the rear With the recent weather highlighting some aquaplaning on the local roads (tyres nearing replacement limit anyway) and the finish on the old black wheels starting to look past its best, the choice was new rubber and a refurb or new rubber and wheels:shrug: the latter won and following a quick call to Keith @ revolution the postie dropped off some new alloys / tyres Went for flat silver finish to contrast the roof rails and rear hatch trim with a slighlty more aggressive fitment option to try and compliment the car more....... hopefuly its worked can't recommend an FSTi enough to anyone thinking or needing to go down this route........absolutely brilliant cars |

It's got many of the FSTi features and an auto box. It's a JDM model, but pretty rare in the UK, but I have seen them over here. Sorry for the tangent to the main thread! |

Indeed, was thinking I'd seen an auto box STi previously listed on the auction sites (you can get an earlier type with one? the STi II typeM IIRC) but it was possibly a cross sports... |

The SF versions of the STi were basically s/tb's with trinkets as far as I am aware, i.e. the engine was the same, but the bodykit and interior differed
There was an auto and manual version, with the "M" denoting manual. |

As to the Evo wagon, I almost bought one rather than a FSTi but, somewhat ironically given what you're after, it was an auto and I wanted a manual. They're rare and my FSTi came up first, so I bought that! Edit: just seen JPP in Crawley have a Evo wagon that appears to be their latest project. wow thanks STIG I thought it was the new suv model. I thought the 2.5 xt was the only nearest one too the sti. didn't no about this one and its a 2.0L not the chocolate 2.5L. I will look in too the differences between that an the sti model. thank you.

Now looking at front splitters
|

|

Tricky to come by FSTi specific ones (japanparts have them), but I am given to believe the Hawkeye STi splitters can be adapted to fit on the facelift SG.
I've been toying with fitting one for quite some time. The official FSTi one can have a second part fitted to it so it is "thicker" (for want of a better word). I'll dig out a photo later of a friend of mine's. The only pic I have to hand has his plate showing, which he may not necessarily thank me for sharing. |

hi ron, got my eyes on a silver 2.5 xt forester. you got any idea where too go for lowering springs and would it be worth sticking fatory sti exhaust on or a better complete non fatory one on. I did read somewhere the sti shocks and springs and tophats will bolt straight on. and then theres wheels, what get. they have 227bhp standard so would only want too get over the 250 mark. so would it be the same sort of stuff/mods as the saloon cars.
|

The XT PPP runs about 252bhp from memory, so your aim is very achievable.
A chap I know has a 2.5XT running 340bhp. 18 months on and still going strong... albeit with new head gasket! subaruforester.org is worth a look at, particularly the Europe section. Between them, the guys on there know most things. Oh, and the XT exhaust is a four piece, STi a three piece (similar to the classic). The standard STi system is hard to come by and not much of an upgrade, so I shouldn't bother. I do have a STi backbox you would be welcome to if you wanted to try it. Pretty quiet! cheers stig for your help. ill have a look at that site. I would be happy with the same bhp as my evo,but one of the main reasons that's going is 1 the dogs are going too wreck it and 2 I cant help myself keep booting it lol.
