SES power board comments
just a thought, but maybe the power board thread should state that figures proven on a rolling road or something only should be posted, no "guestimate" figures.
U know what its like, some chav gets a scoob, gets on the net n tells everyone how he's got 700bhp cuz he's got a loud exhaust n a DV. I know what I think I have power wise, but I wouldnt post it cuz I cant prove it. Oh and maybe put a link 2 this thread in the 1st post for people to discuss ? |

I think that's a good shout

Yep, i agree it should be proven figures only.
Saying that, no point in adding mine on there |

Why not Steve you got a good time at the Ring with that power.

Edited post so that everyone should be able to add figures
Dyno Proven = DYP Road Dyno Proven = RDP Estimated = EST Estimated Soon to be Proven =ESP Standard = STD Example: Joe Bloggs / 2.0 / VF34 / 305 / 310 / DYP John Doe / 2.0 / VF34 / 352 / 340 / ESP That way everyone can take part if they wish, not just the proven chaps |

I've added a link to my projects thread to my post plus stated it was SRR figures.
How do you add info to your car profile - is there one?

Had very similar setup on my 2.5 classic when I first got it back in the day. Was getting almost same result on a VF22 and that was on 380cc.injectors at the time maxed to the the max. It had the pull of a turbo diesal but with even more power... Probably should have stopped there at the time, because even at that stage it made for a very nice road car, and within limits of drivetrain.

My 2.5 was 450bhp 509lbs/ft... Laziest car to drive on the road

One further addition to be made please guys.
Can you please state what kind of fuel your figures are based on. As the whole idea is to show what is possible to people wanting to mod their cars, this way they will know what they have to do completely to achieve these numbers Pump Fuel = PF Race Fuel / % Meths = RF |

Would have loved a go in that one.
I'd like to see some people getting brave and pushing a standard hawk 2.5 with nothing more than a larger turbo (Not twisted) and decat and see what figures they are getting and hopefully see them doing lots of miles. Also keen to see what Scott will eventually squeeze out of his with its original turbo. This is a path I would like to take either on a hawk STI or Hatch (but fearful of the alleged chocolate engines in the Hatch). Which makes me think - would be nice to see how many miles the various scoobs have done on original build or engine |

What about short engine info such as :
Stock STi short engine Stock WRX short engine Stock UK short engine Built Short Engine (cc'c, forged pistons (type), Rod type and Crank type) not too worried about the rest such as heads, TGV deletes, Cams etc..etc... |

Yes Chris, It could be mate, but I do think that the fuel is quite a good one to have in the mix.
People who have both figures could put both down, this will also show the benefits of going that step further If someone wanted to get to the next stage, I would like to think they could PM someone like yourself to ask details, cost etc |

I would have the most important thing for most people to know is:
The pounds spent against power gained. From an induction kit to an engine rebuild.

Agreed Ian, to a certain degree, but lots of people don't want to publicly state what they have spent, for many reasons. But the biggest one being that you make it a target for getting nicked if it's got lots of expensive shiny things underneath that can be stripped out.
Again, it's the kind of thing that people could PM someone for. Or we could start a list of general mods and costs in a separate thread, so in a roundabout way, yours is not a bad shout at all. It could List general costs for Filters, exhausts, mapping, FMIC, turbos etc. |

And the colour!! Many people think that silver is the fastest colour, and is worth 10bhp!! I also believe (but then I would) that some mapping software can now account for colour in the percentages along with windspeed and tidal flows if mapped near the coast.
Interestingly, somebody on a forum calculated that the difference in kerb weight between classic and new age was the equivalent of carrying two 11 stone passengers in the newage. Is that so? (Scott...probably knows whether this is so?)

Worzel. you are right mate.
The more money spent generally the quieter the person is, and pm's are rife on this subject. Word gets around fast ! I had that engine problem at Bruntingthorpe a few weeks ago on a Saturday. By 11.00 pm the following day I had 81 different people contacted me ???? How did they know ?? Must of been someone at the event. Remember what I told you about the interest in an RCM engine going pop !! maybe that sums up what I was trying to say, and there have been many more since. Subauman: not sure if the 11 stone blokes thing is correct but having driven several of both that would be very close at a guess. Newage models do feel very heavy when you are used to a P1. |

I still find it amazing that someone would want anyone's engine to go tits up, we all have a bit of banter about things when they have, like all the trouble Nige had, but that's all it is. Banter. To actually hope for a problem for someone is an indication of an incredibly sad ( and probably single and serial masturbator) person |

Which is the better method of proving figures? When Bob Rawle remapped mine he sent me a spreadsheet and graph through breaking all the numbers down working out my power. This is the "Road Dyno Proven" I'm guessing?

Yes mate I do belive that is what Iain has done for me.
Well heavy linners and all the work to allow the block to stay in one place. Hope for more from it this year with Bob Rawles magic and maybe billet wheel. |
