Default SES Ring Trip part 2.. 2/10/20 to 5/10/20 (4 nights)

I haven't given up yet, things are definitely getting better.

Trying to make the best of a bad job.

Things are slowly getting better..this is the latest info:

https://www.nuerburgring.de/en/news/...ls-chance.html

I have provisionally booked rooms at the hotel for October 2nd to the 5th.

This weekend is the first after the VLN 24 hrs so hopefully the spectating places will be open.

These dates are basically the latest its feasible to go this year and I've no doubt (fingers crossed) quarantine etc will be gone by this time.

Obviously booking the tunnel will be done close to the time of departure so that we don't have to get vouchers etc. should things not work out.

I think the dates for the best Ring access will be from:

Friday 2/10/20 for a four night stay returning on Tuesday 6/10/20

We will traveling via the Channel tunnel.

Eurotunnel fare at the moment is £152

Departure 2/10/20 @ 07.50.

Returning 6/10/20 at 16.50

Do not forget to book when going through the vehicle details section, "to say you are carrying bikes on the roof"

We are staying here:

http://www.hohe-acht.com/your-hotel-...-nordschleife/

The hotel also has space for us to store tyres tools etc. in a secure cellar.

The room rates this year for a twin room are 70 euros PRPN and 47 euros PRPN for a single occupied room, prices include breakfast.

If you are wanting to join us on this trip please put your name on the list.

1: Ian and Steve.
2: Ellie and George
3: Scott and Olly

A big single pot on the V8 worked well on mine with Ferodo DS3000. Unfortunately you have to get them made so cost close to £300. Mine was also a very heavy car being a vert.
I bought them through Alyn

I hope everyone is ok..

I am really missing the ring now especially as things are easing but still as yet no spectators.

It's the full layout this weekend and could easily jump in the car and go..

You never know it might be full layout when we get there as it is the weekend after the 24hr race.

Fingers crossed things will be eased further.

You're going on the weekend smack bang between the 24hr and the F1 race on the GP circuit. Good planning!

I'm driving over tomorrow for a week. Only booked the Eurotunnel about 10 days ago and nearly fell off my chair. School summer holiday prices plus they're trying to make back some lost profit from the rest of the year I reckon - £330 return. Even the best price on the ferries was over £250!

Will be doing a few walks around the circuit but won't be on track, the BMW brakes are standard and would be gone by Hatzenbach

I've known about the 24hr for ages it's only just been confirmed for the F1..

Have fun with Claire and Ellie..
It's a shame we didn't book this weekend as its the full VLN layout..

Might see you around Steve. I’m currently here with the family, staying at Center Parcs. Hoping to do some laps this evening.

Hi Mike, unfortunately i've only just logged on to SES to see this, and we got back yesterday! Didn't spot you around though... we only spent a couple of days in the area of the Ring, the rest of the time was around - over at Beilstein, Boppard, Bad Bertrich etc.

What was the Center Parcs like? We stayed at the Lindner Farienpark...

Not long now !!!

Friday 2nd October

06.20 Meet @ the Shell service station Junction 11 M20 (CT21 4GH)

06.40 Leave for Euro tunnel terminal. (2 minutes down the road)

06.45 Check in

07.50 Depart UK.

Stopping at the Shell garage/services @ Barchon Sud E40/E42 to top up with petrol from on board cans, have a coffee from flasks and may be a sandwich

We are staying here: https://www.hohe-acht.com/your-hotel...-nordschleife/

Sat Nav co ordinates for the hotel are:

Latitude: 50.385391 Longitude: 7.023708

Taking my suggested route below, Via the E42 (passed Spa).

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Ch...4900,+Belgium/

Latitude, Longitude 50.65449, 5.71096

Those who have been before will probably have most of this stuff already. For those who have not been before, the below list is invaluable. Most of the items in the "For The Car" section are actually law in Europe, so I would advise that you make sure that you do / have these things arranged.

I'm sure that most of you who have been before will have this stuff, but it's well worth double checking, just in case. Anything that you haven't got can be purchased at places like Halfords.

BLUE are the ones that are Law in Europe!

The Check List FOR THE CAR

1: Spare Bulb Kit
2: Warning Triangle
3: Hi Visibility Vests (1 for each person in car)
4: Headlight Beam Deflectors (see link below)
5: Fire Extinguisher
6: First Aid Kit

7: GB Sticker (if you dont have GB on your number plate)
8:Spare Key
9: Octane Booster (personal choice)
10: Oil (optional but advised)
11: Sat Nav (with European Data)
12: Crash Helmet (not compulsory)
13: European Insurance & Breakdown Cover (make sure it covers repatriation, just in case)
14: Track insurance ????
15: Driving License, insurance cert. V5 form and MOT certificate to be carried at all times !
16: Locking wheel nut tool
17: Tyre pressure gauge
18: Breathalyser kit

PERSONAL ITEMS

1: PASSPORT !!
2: Euro Tunnel confirmation e-mail with booking reference and dont forget to register you API http://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/advance...r-information/
3: E 111 (optional additional health insurance)
4: Euro's and debit / credit cards (inform bank that you are away for safety)
5: Mobile Phone & Charger
6: Headache Tablets (trust me)
7: European Plug Adaptor
8: Walkie talkies ?

9: Big bag of cash. Euros.

Face masks and sanitizer

Those with TOM TOM's down load the shell garages onto your european maps. If you know of anything that need adding to this list, please feel free to add it.

Its not long now getting excited !!.

Headlight deflectors can be found here:
