Default Bye bye A6...

Well after a trip to Audi today for the A6 service - I ended up swapping it in for something completely different...

Collection as soon as I sort the private plate transfer...

That looks very smart.

There is a SQ5 down the road from me which I often admire when it drives by!

Couldn’t stretch to the SQ5 this time around - but maybe in 3yrs - who knows!

It’s a good spec:
2018 build
15 miles on clock
S-Line Quattro
2.0 Diesel
Technology Pack
Comfort Pack
Sound Pack
20” Alloys

Tech Pack / Sound Pack / Comfort Pack has keyless entry, bigger screen, virtual cockpit, Bang & Olufsen 16 Speaker 755w surround sound system, dynamic LED rear indicators, LED Headlights, heated seats, reversing camera, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay interface, handsfree electronic tailgate plus all the normal bits standard on the 2018 Q5

I’m happy, the seating position is much nicer for me, and much comfier as on long drives I struggled in the A6...

Hopefully pick up in a week, so no doubt more pics to follow.

One thing I have found that is an issue tho - I’m too short to reach the roof or top of bonnet for detailing

Well had a few hours today so managed to get my hands on the Q5 properly.. being so big and with iffy weather I only tackled the bonnet...

Washed in my usual anal manner, and then black hole glaze, auto finesse tripple, and auto finesse illusion wax..

Not bad... had to stand on the wheel to reach middle of bonnet tho

Came out ok... only 4 doors, a boot and the worlds biggest roof to go! Like that bridge this car! By time I finished it’s time to start again! Ha ha

(Yes that’s the reflection)

As always when getting that close with a car, I have noticed a few imperfections... two pin hole size paint drips near the top
Centre of bonnet, and also a line of 4 close together scratches, about 2cm long running parallel to each other on passenger side top of bonnet... apart from that, the paints ok and not as orange peely as I would have imagined a new car to be..

I’ll bore you all with the next bit when I have recovered and decide to tackle it

We are anal about paintwork ain't we......
I'm suprised too how a new car isn't perfect as I've come across issues on my last 2 Audi and the new Focus.
My A5 had some red paint on the bottom of the passenger door, so no idea where that came from.

My local Ford have a Red Edition RS and the gloss black roof it shockingly scratched on the front quarter. The showroom lights don't do it any favours for sure !

Default Bye bye A6...

Well at least it’s not just me Scott

I must say watching the “cleaning and detailing” guys at work I’m not surprised main dealers don’t have more issues with customer returning cars for shocking paintwork!

When I collected mine their team were outside cleaning a brand new TT RS - in black... jetwash, sponge, one bucket and chamois leather! I nearly fainted ! Ha ha ha

Looks good - one benefit of driving 13 year old cars my paints crap and there’s nothing. I can do about it apart from a respirator which is more than the cars worth!

But if anybody wants to buys a black baron car drier mines hardly used!

When I had my A4 I spent a weekend waxing then took it in for a check at the dealers. They did their usual courtesy clean without me realising they were going too and jet washed the wax off. The next wash I did it was like it had no wax on at all.
It's a good service for most customers but not for us. Interiors always comes up nice though with their high power Hoover's.
