Exclamation choking

I have recently taken off the flat air vent in my bonnet and replaced it with a small scoop.

I drove the car yesterday (first time since the swap over) I pulled away from yhe lights and changed to 2nd, a little yob pulled up beside me in a 106 trying to show off to his mates. So in 2nd I floored it. And all my car did was cough and splutter. The revs dropped to 600rpm then she carried on as normal. She is perfect if I build the revs up gradually but coughs when quick acceleration.

Any ideas or suggestions? I felt when the 106 carried on past me

I think you need to forget about the vent / scoop as it is going to have nothing to do with any fault you have had of late.

Sounds to me like a starvation of fuel or a break down in leads or plugs? Maf ??

What does it start up and idle like?

Have you changed any if those items recently??

What year car? As rich said, MAF, if pre 1996 and running Individual coil pack could be one of them braking down.

with the engine idling, unplug the maf. if the engine dies, then the maf isn't faulty. if it carries on idling, you need a new maf

you car is a V5-6 so ring up Alyn at Asperformance and give him your car details and get one ordered. Pretty good price delivered too!
