Default Metalic rattle when on boost any ideas ?

I was out in my scoob last night when I noticed a metalic rattling sound when I was on full boost sounds like a marble in a tin can it doesn't do it all the time only on full boost and mostly in 2nd and third it's defo not a heat shield as I have a sports cat fitted and they have been removed could it be a mapping issue ?

Check your actuator rod isn't too close to or touching the turbo heat shield. Sometimes these can fit a little crooked and get very close to actuator arm.

I doubt it's fuel related because if you can hear detonation that much it would of only done it a few times before packing up altogether.

Just checked the actuator ect and it's all tight nothing's lose and the turbo heat shield has been removed so it defiantly isn't that it does also make a sort of pinking noise from around the turbo area every now and again when on idle but it's only done this since I've changed the intake pipe to a silicone one

Don't want to alarm you, but if it is pinking on full boost you have already pitted your piston and will probably kill a/all pistons very, very quickly. Pinking is pretty un-mistakable, and a cringe worthy noise, and tends to do it in higher load, higher gears, and around the 5K rpm area so doubt the its that.

Is it defo engine area ?, else perhaps an exhaust baffle ?. and is the downpipe bolted back properly. Have seem many aftermarket downpipes fitted only using the main flange bolts and not bolted back on the brackets further down, which as a result can then rattle and cause stress on the turbo flange.

Think I've found out what cas causing the problem while removing the down pipe to take the rattling heat shield off I found A 1 inch split in the line going to the actuator I've fitted a new one and now seems ok hopefully that will be the end of it

Is there anyway of telling if I've damaged anything it's not making the noise anymore and is driving fine ?
