I have fitted my rear diff and noticed that i only have a circlip on the passenger side rear drive shaft, is this right or should there be one on the right one as well??

I think that depends on the diff. my old classic WRX and my current wagon when it had the STI-RA 2 drive train both had them in the diff and on the shafts. the ones in the diff popped over the ones on the shaft when the shaft is inserted to hold it in place. my current P1 setup only has them in the diff and the clip recess on the shaft is notably more shallow. theres probably a version that just has them on the shafts out there for another model/year too.

sounds like you may have 2 different types of driveshaft
are both near side and off side shafts identical, apart from one having a shallower circlip recess? or does the one with the shallower recess have a chamfered end? if you hold both side by side, are the circlip recess' the same distance from the end of the splined shaft? or does one of the shafts have splines, then a taper, then more splines, with the clip recess being in the larger diameter set of splines? if you can, a picture of both would help. |
