Default Windscreen colour?

Can anyone help please ? Screen replacement for my jdm 96 plate wagon does anyone know the correct tint shade?

Following a chip on the screen last week and booking a replacement autoglass asked about the colour stating it's either "grey or green" tint. When I said it looks grey the reply was "I'm surprised as almost everyone we fit is green ".

On checking repeatedly it could be either depending on the light imo.

I'm trying to avoid any further delays as 'autoglass 'cancelled today saying the glass hadn't arrived ? When I again asked about the colour they suggested placing a white piece of paper behind the glass and this would reflect the colour. It didn't help so still unsure Or should I be going to specsavers

I was told there are no give away codes etc on the screen to identify although it does have Nippon stamped on the glass so I assuming it's original?

Cheers,
Steve:

I'm pretty sure the older JDM cars had a brown tint to the glass, whereas the EU cars were green. Not sure if there was a year when they all went to the same colour or not though.

Google didn't throw up much but there's an example of the brown tinted JDM glass here:

Edit/
Another image if it helps you identify what you have:

Thanks Steve for the images, pretty sure it's not brown but as AG didn't mention this tint I'm even more paranoid about having the wrong one fitted

Thanks Scotty, Just had another look, with the sun on the glass it looks to have a green tint but Steve ' s post has just added to the doubt.

Pilkington list green for 92-2000 which I believe covers the EU/UK cars....
http://infopart.org/pilkington-7915agngn-part but not sure if the JDM's are different or not..

Nippon purchased Pilkington so standards must be similar?

The only classic screen I replaced I went for a blue tint, it was only then that you could clearly see the rest of the glass was green this was on a 93 wrx....

Can you see more colour in any of the other glass on the car? because it maybe that the screen has been replaced in the past........

PS...... Germany this year?

Cheers Ron, I assumed as 'Nippon' is stamped on the windscreen it was original? Leaning towards a green tint but now you have mentioned 'blue' I'm going for a lie down

Germany. ............... working on it, have missed it, just seeing if it can be fitted in around work, other holiday plans etc . Would love to see the 'naughty boy s ' back together and the camera shy 'lesser spotted Ron' getting caught on camera

I think it's green Steve but in certain light it looks greyish/brownish (ffs)

If it's an STi shouldn't it have a Pink tint
I would cancel Autoglass and use someone else based on research I did for the Audi.

The guy that came down to me was from up your way and has been doing it for 30 years.

Scott I've been worried since the first phone call, I used the number given on insurance and was redirected to them.

I used Adrian from Auto Windscreen's.
Would be worth giving them a call to see if they can claim through your insurer.

Autoglass arrived today ,after much discussion about location and the size of the chip decision was to repair and not replace.

Not ideal cosmetically but after chatting with the guy it turns out it would have been his first Subaru replacement, ,he was really nervous about attempting it especially as he could see how much the car meant to me ,so I'm happy with the outcome.

If there is a next time I'll check first with KM with who I can use? When I called the glass line listed it redirected to Autoglass and after Scott posting about using/ recommending Auto Windscreen's I should have spoke to them aswell.

Bonus- £75 excess returned which pays for the new PIAA wipers courtesy of Alyn at ASPERFORMANCE

Oh and the shade is green
