Boring stock work well if ported.
I'm sure a man of your engineering skill could arrange it.

The ra won't as then will need map and a lot of money for just ported headers,
Is there any proven gain from this aswell??
The rcm is a great fitment too , but will loose a little rumble from them

A certain funny blue STi ran with ported headers for quite some time before a remap.
I noticed a spool improvement when I did mine and again didn't bother adjusting the map.
It just makes it breath more easily and gets a great volume of air to the turbo quicker..

There are better gains to be had from ported OE then a lot of aftermarket so called performance headers.

That's interesting as always have this feeling that your only porting a inch down so your still with a restrictor, it's like having a 3 inch down pipe down to a 2.5 it still isn't free flowing just moving the limit further down ,
But if you say you felt an improvement then blows my theiry out,
Some aftermarket headers and up pipes don't work as to large and flood non large blowers,
I found the rcm worked very well on A vf35
I'm still unsure if I want to do that stuff to my ra as don't want to modify it other than fitting Sti parts
Would love these and the ti cat back that's for sale on here and get a ti down pipe to match

Main issue with tubular headers is a loss of spool especially on the supplied up-pipe hence the turbo match Harvey Smith versions available from Alyn! Most people say stick with ported up to around 400/450 Bhp it's only above that you will see gains. I was running 440 on ported OE with matched up-pipe and gained 2 Bhp and lost about 100rpm spool when I switched, however the boost was 0.1 bar lower for the same result (And the clutch was slipping!).

as above on a std car then a well ported set of headers and matched "trick" up-pipe will out spool and out perform most aftermarket set-ups.........

whilst the RCM / GT2 spec headers are very good for higher power they still suffer from a lack of response and can be improved again with a Harvey Smith "trick" up-pipe

Thanks for updates on this guy's, I've been reading up on the trick up pipe, and confused myself not realizing the trick up pipe is a complete new item not just the stock one ported which i still cant see making any difference as the restriction is still there,
but the 'harvey' up pipe tailor made to your car sounds a good idea.

i ran rcm set up on stock vf35 mapped by jgm and had a gain
powerstation ecutek mapped @ 330hp
same car jgm ecutek mapp with rcm headers and up pipe, swapped out hks to cosworth panel filter 343bhp

Still think to my original post £300 seems good price for the complete set up with gaskets.
and no its not my ad lol

It's a difficult call, I'd still say under 400 stick to ported OE (possibly with Grimmspeed cross over pipe) and a Harvey up-pipe, 400+ consider RCM and a Harvey up-pipe.

We ran a test a few years ago on a set of ported headers i did
13bhp 15fbt increase and bringing turbo spool down 400rpm.
well worth doing imo
