Was only talking about him yesterday..............

Such a shame that we loose anyone to this terrible disease and although I personaly only met him on a couple of occassions, he came across very much as a decent chap.

A huge loss to the motoring world.

My thoughts are with his family and with his close friends during this difficult time.

Terrible news. Messaged him on here wishing him well and hoping he had a speedy recovery following his announcement. Sadly that was not to be. Nice bloke who very enthusiastic about a passion we all share. Thoughts with his family and friends at this time and may he rest in peace.

Very sad to see this, my thoughts are with his family and friends. I wouldn't say I knew him well but he mapped my car through several stages of upgrades over the years and always did a fantastic job with a smile on his face as he did it!

He will be greatly missed by a lot of people.

Was one of the nicest guys I have had the privilege to have met . Spent most Wednesdays with him for the past few years , trackdays , test days at pod to name a few other days . Had a curry last Wednesday with him and ten others in case of the worst was to happen thinking he had 3 to 6 months ! Then Thursday he was going to hospital to see if could start IPI treatment which he was given the all clear . Friday was treatment day all seemed to go well . Was back in Saturday morning thinking it was an infection to later find out it was a reaction to the IPI . They tried pumping it out over the weekend but damage was done
The pain he was in I would not like to think about , his organs slowly failed .
A gent to the end and has left a large hole in so many peoples lives .
At least he'll sleep well now

Shocking.! With all the money and charities it's About time they found a cure/vaxine for what is a truly nasty disease that has far reaching effects other than the poor soul that gets it. From what I can gather things took a turn for the worse very quickly which is a blessing from my experience.

RIP Simon and thoughts are with the immediate family.....

Too young, had everything going for him, and family in toe... Just not fair.

A great loss to so many, I've lost count of the times he's mapped the bug over the years, and the times he's gone the extra mile or tweaked something for free - even driving out to Mike Rivetts to put the running in map on the new engine for gratis. Although Id not say I knew him well he always treated me more as a friend than a customer and he was always more than the guy who mapped my car!
RIP Simon.

Sad news and RIP Simon, thoughts are with the family.
I will always remember our little chats 10+ years ago, when we worked at the same Avionics Engineering company.
This was prior to JGM when we could share our thoughts and passions on ECU tweaking, so we do go back some years.
He will be missed by many.

just picked up on this via Pistonheads. That is really-really sad news.

He was one of the very first people I met in Kent in his original Green classic when I first got a scooby in 2001.

I wish his family all the best.

Never had the pleasure of meeting him and was looking forward to getting him to map the scooby after xmas but seems like he was a top guy from all the comments on the forums.

So Rip Simon and Best wishes to his family

I'm sorry this is so late. I have only just logged on to read about it.
This really is sad news. I've read all the kind posts above and Simon will really be missed.
He mapped my poor scoob several times and was always jovial, gentle and kind - to it, and to me - he never once told me that you can't polish a turd or push water uphill. I was, quite frankly, banging my head on the wall with my poor scoob. But Simon was honest and compassionate, pulled the BHP back a bit so I didn't destroy it out the gate! And Simon always had a smile on his face and loved doing what he was doing.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends. I will miss him and reading his posts about the build of the green monster he built.
