Worzel, Crowman & Pieman's 2nd Day out at RCM

Beeeeeeeeeep........ beeeeeeeeeeep........... Beeeeeeeeeeeeep SMACK!!!!

It's obviously hard to replicate the sound, feeling and reaction of the alarm going off at 4.45am but you get the idea.

Ablutions done, it was time to fire up the SLaG and head off to Total @ Uckfield to meet up with Ron & Martyn, for the journey up to RCM, yet again in the dark and rain

With my other 2 amigo's onboard, we left at about 5.30am from Uckfield, we cruised up to Hinkley at a steady 80mph (except for that bastard section of the M1 with the 50mph zone) getting to Sally's Bacon Bap Van just along the road from RCM at 8.15 for a nice Egg, Bacon & Mushroom bap and a steamy mug of coffee.

For those who were worried about how much the trip to RCM would cost in fuel, I filled up at East Grinstead on the way up and this is what I used on the trip



After the refuelling session we cruised along the road to RCM. We got our customary extremely warm welcome and a quick chat with Olly before Olly and myself went through what was going to be done to the SLaG that day. Martyn couldn't help himself and had to ask about some shiny things while he had the chance.



Once Olly and I had gone through the list of things to be done, us lads sat back for a bit of a pow wow and watched a bit of rubbish day time telly, having a completely un-PC moment during helicopter heroes, involving a paramedic, which we laughed about all day!!

During the day, we wondered around the workshop checking out the various stunning motors up there and looking in on what the situation was with the SLaG.

After much mirth and a general good time at RCM, the calling was strong for a pint of the black stuff and some munch, so we wandered off to the "Marina" pub for lunch!



After another absolute laugh in the pub, along with some serious chat, we wandered back to RCM to chill and wait for the SLaG to be finished up. Upon our arrival, Olly came in and showed me some fairly shagged items that they had to replace, this was not the last time this happened during the rest of the day, the rear end (much like Crowmans) was in a bad way.

We enjoyed a nice restful afternoon which included watching the classic film Zulu, playing tiger woods 12 comps on the i-phones and we actually watched an Evo on the rollers there, which for a change managed to stay on the rollers There are some picture to follow on this event, as these were taken by Ron.

With the amount of work needing doing, Matt Clark joined the fray and got to work on the SLaG too, meaning 2 mechanics getting her finished off. With the Coilovers fitted and the Geo done, it was onto the Light Weight Pulleys and the hoses.

So, with much hustle and bustle, the work was finished and Olly took the old girl out for a test and came back with a big smile and a thumbs up. So we were done for the day. After settling up the bill it was time for the journey back down south.

After yet another fantastic time at RCM, we said it last time too, but we were looked after so well up there and allowed access wherever we wanted it really, which is so unlike anywhere else. They just can't do enough for you.

So it was jut the trip down the M1 to go, stopping briefly to buy a sarnie and an I-phone charger from the Shell garage (which randomly had one Texaco pump in the middle of it's Shell pumps.) to chrge up some now dead phones and the drive home continued. Getting back to Uckfield at about 10.30.

After lots of kisses and man hugs, with some dancing and mime thrown in for good measure, we all trundled off home.

The car feels a million dollars, tight as a drum. I haven't really pushed it yet, but will have a play about with it at some point this weekend! The twisties through Herons Ghyll might get a pounding this weekend

Steve I take it your running 22 settings f & r going by the "Fast Road" set up ?

Do your BC's have 40 clicks per corner as I note "18 clicks" was mentioned.

These BC's have 32 clicks. Olly suggested the 18 clicks for general road use, winding them up to 27/28 for fast road / track. The 18 setting feels just about spot on for general driving, but still with a nice firm and steady feel through the bends.

18 is what i run my BC's @ on my classic too. firm but not too firm for regular road use.

BTW, thats 2 man-dates you to gone on now. you gotta hold hands n skip down the road together on the 3rd

Huh ........ BC's are 32 click ... okay.

Mate, when you wind them down a bit (to stiffen the ride) you wont believe the difference on cornering.

You will often find out just how good they are if you over shoot a bend and turn in 5hitting yourself that your going to have an off, BUT they just grip
