I have a bit of a soft spot for those but wouldn’t swap a type r for one
Type r prices are going up at a ridiculous rate and yours looks a nice one and too cheap imo

Same as the one my brother had. How long has it been in the country? Scottish roads and the lack of underseal would be my main concern.

The windscreen has a Pole Position UK sticker so they probably know the car and might be able to give you some history on it if information is sketchy from the seller?

I've looked at 3 hawks and one hatch in past 6 weeks and all looked like that. Unless you find a garaged one or fresh import all of them are generally untidy now underneath,
Yet my new purchase is opposite way

That's quite bad for a 70k mile bugeye, suggests its been out in all weathers. Mine is only just showing a tiny dot on one side at 100k miles as its been garaged for last 10 years. Guess it reflects the condition on the underside photo earlier.

For me, these cars value is all about condition...the best ones will keep going up in price, but if you need to spend a fortune on dealing with rust then that negates any investment really. Shame, as its a great looking bug.

I can see past that and know that i can make it clean again as this would be a long term family solution .

Currently full decat with Prodrive backbox to keep it quiet and pass track noise tests.
Normally mine is the same, but with a Tornado 2 backbox (Hayward and Scott).

Nothing wrong with a TSL Group N backbox at all, they're great quality and not loud like the name suggests...

Having owned same car , the arches do not look pretty , trouble is they rust inside out so there will be more to what meets the eye ,
But other than that , it looks cool and the newages are easier to live with daily over a classic ,

Looks like both arches have been done before, the paint on the n/s is orange peely on the rear qarter and o/s looks a different colour, paint appears to have cracked as well from what I assume is having the arches rolled. Good exhaust though and can be quietened down a little with a resonates centre section.

As it’s an import get a carvx check will cost you £25 but will give you Japanese auction history and condition report. I know it’s a few years ago but should still come up will tell you if it had an accident before export at least

TSL Group N was the best back box I ever had! I had a Miltek 3' system on my Bug but it was the litchfield version with the Cat in the Mid section and a single piece downpipe/front pipe. The tone was perfect for me but the stainless quality was poor and it didn't look that pretty after 8 years!

Mine passed the 95db test at Goodwood without and issues and would also pass MOTs as long as the car was warmed up properly.

In all honesty I'd say it's not worth the gamble .is there a reason he can't sell it?
Plus it gets to you or what ever you arrange and it's wasted your money or time .
I personally think the non forum cars are getting a hard uncared for life and it's showing
So just be careful that's my 2pence worth ,

It's could be a nice car , it could be a mess .
What's the going rate for a uk bug/blob sti with 80k now?
6/7k ?

Starting to sound a bit fishy... who takes a UK car to Poland (that bit is far enough) but then expects to sell it to a UK buyer and charge them delivery?

If it was my money, I'd be looking for an example that's over here, where I can do a deal face to face and where I don't need to sort the rust out myself. Got to be easier?

Its a well known scam to charge delivery.
He'll ask you to send money to cover shipping and you'll pay shipping then never here from them again.

The other scam when selling it that they have been known to send you a cheque to cover the price of your car and also include costs to cover shipping. You then stick the cheque in the bank and when it's cleared in 3 days you stick your car on a boat and pay the shipping.

They then cancel the cheque. The 3 day clearance by the bank is only done as a goodwill jesture. It can take several weeks to truly clear.

You end up with no car and out of pocket for the shipping.
