Camera advice
Good afternoon
I'm looking at getting a dslr and at the moment I'm not sure to get the canon 1300d or the Nikon 3300 Can anybody advise what is better? I would look at getting 2 lenses to start with so I got a bit of choice for close and long range |

The Canon vs Nikon question is a bit like the Impreza STi vs Lancer Evo question or Ford vs Holden... just got to pick a side!!

I went Canon as I'm familiar with them from childhood, Nikon's feel alien to me!

It's really down to personal preference I went out to but a Canon but found the grip was too small and the body too light to hold steady and comfortably so ended up with a Nikon, I also preferred the control layout with the double wheels on the Nikon which I found easier and more intuitive.
Just make sure you go to a 'proper' camera shop and have a good play with etc camera, ideally with battery fitted and free from any cables etc. to get a true feel of the camera in your hands. Also consider the costs of the total set-up you plan to get, what std package lens do you get and how much will the additional lenses cost you - I have the std pack lens 35-135 zoom, a prime 50mm (indoor/portrait lens) and a image stabilised 70-400mm for long distance work - Ideally these should all be as low an aperture as possible to help speed and low light shooting.

As per above...
Laura and I were complete novices to DSLR cameras, but after using Rob's in Germany, we went Nikon D5300 - with standard 18-35mm lens and then a zoom lens to go with... Maybe ask Olly - he seems a dab hand with a camera on here (official photographer)

Olly is using a Canon 1200D with an 18-55, 55-250 both IS and a 50mm low aperture.
Sammy has just got a Canon 1300D. |

These are the Ines I'm deciding between.
Wifi to phone would be a bonus, but not 100% essential http://www.jessops.com/online.store/...8015/show.html Or Http://www.jessops.com/online.store/...7316/show.html I was crossing these 2 as a start just due to having another lenses out was a start to try. Unless anybody else has some suggestions. I would be looking at some sporting shots ( maybe cars on a track) and perhaps some family days out ( zoos etc as a starting point ) |

Personally I would buy the body and 18-55 package and get a Canon lense instead of the Tamaron.

As others have already said, I would spend a bit more and go for the package with all genuine lenses rather than the Tamron ones. I am still using the original Canon lens kit (18-55 and 55-250) that came with my first DSLR and both lenses are still going strong!

They majorly got me out of the crap when I had a problem with my last camera so, even though they aren't the closest camera shop to me, I always deal with them now.

If you are still in doubt, then you should definitely read this article fixthephoto.com/blog/tech-tips/relonch-camera-review.html
Maybe this will help you decide, though I'm inclined to think that this is an option for most beginners |
