Default Cleaning panel filter

I have a panel filter fitted and on recent inspection it's looking a bit grim.. Pretty sure it's a cosworth one.. How do I go about cleaning it or should it be replaced?? Been told you need to oil some of them!? Ta

Not entirely sure on the best method for cleaning, but those which need oiling are best avoided I believe.

I was told the oil can foul your MAF, which makes choosing a different panel filter the obvious choice to me.

Not aware the Cosworth filter needs oil though, so you're probably okay.

Sorry not to be more help. I'm pretty useless, but retain things well, so once I've been told it tends to stick!

Get a new one,

I have a spare used one, its yours if you want it.

With mine I take it out of the air box and hoover (from the back) between the fins every now and then, its now three years old but you would not know it..

You can clean them but I could not be asked.

I got a Green panel filter from Scoobyparts its nice hearing the car breath when you fit a new one...they do seem to make a difference.

the likes of the cotton ones (K&N, Green, etc.) can be cleaned very easily and as long as the oil is used sparingly its NOT an issue...........

the main MAF problem comes from the foam type filters which tend to be more oiled........
