Default light steering

I have changed the rear drop links on the car ,and i think it feels a little more planted at the rear but the front seems to feel light.
If i hold the steering wheel and move it left and right it feels light an inch either way then after that feels tighter(the wheels still move even in the light bit)
I know i will need to book it in to have the geo set up but I would like to have alook and see if i can see anything.
Are there any commen things to look out for?
Also hows the best way to check it?(bearing in mind I will have it jacked up on axle stands)

thanks in advance Jason

stop eating weetabix?

only way i can think of checking it is to lose the axle stands and maybe put the wheels on mobile ramps instead. too low to drive on so you'll have to jack it up and then drop it back down on to the ramps. if theres play in the bushes/suspension anywhere, easiest way to see IMO is to have the cars weight on the wheels while you get someone to wiggle the steering wheel so you can have a look underneath at the same time n see if there is play anywhere
when driving along, if you go from hard accelleration to breaking and back again, does the car seem to go slightly to one side? if so i would suspect suspension/bushes, if not, i would suspect steering rack/bushes. or is the car not drivable?
