ASDA Charity Day on 10th August
Hi guys and gals. The P1WOC is having a stand at ASDA Charity DAY at Bruntingthorpe on 10th August again. I've put a thread up both on the P1WOC and Impreza Evolution. As I know that most of you are registered on either both or one of the forums and because it would get too much for me time-wise to keep too many lists up to date, I would like to ask you to put your name on the list there please if you would like to join us. I know some of you lot enjoyed the day last year and I would be so happy if I could see you guys again or put some new faces to usernames.
So if you would like to come along, here are both links: http://www.p1woc.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=35648 http://www.imprezaevolution.co.uk/vb...t&goto=newpost In case anybody of you is not registered on either the WOC or IE please drop me note and I will sort it out for you. |

SES wont be having there own stand but some SES Scoobs will be more than welcome in the Subaru pits and to drive the public around for a lap. My P1 will be one of the Scoobz in the pits and we could do with a few others. |

Brilliant, Charlie. Many thanks for this. I'm thinking of starting an additional list of people who offer laps round the track in the next few days so that we know how many we've got. Would it be ok to put your name on this list?

Hi guys. I've uptdated the thread on IE but thought before you lot miss anything I post it on here, too.
Passes and parking area I've ordered the passes (driver's and visitor passes) from Rosy B (Chris Buckler's wife). Anyway, you will all get driver passes no matter if you have offered laps for passengers or not. The driver passes are free (the visitor passes would cost £10) but please, keep in mind that this is a charity event and we are asked to donate £5 (or £10 if you feel generous ) to the WR1 stand for this year's Charity. I'll ask Clive to print the passes out and to bring them along to the event. You will then get them either in the hotel the night before or at the gate on Saturday morning. As for the parking for both the cars whose drivers kindly offer laps for passengers and for the stand for all the others, I've had messages from both Chris Buckler and his wife Rosy B today. Rosy wrote they have parking for 50 cars on their gate. This is the holding area for track cars as we are only able to have six cars on track at a time. So this is actually the area where everybody on the lap for passengers - list will be. And Chris wrote they just need the guys who will be driving to park near the track, the others can find a nice space together away from all the congestion, there is plenty of room as its an airfield. And this is where our stand will be. The most important thing is possibly to be there not later than 8am so that we can all be in our places before the show starts at 9am. If you have any questions or my double dutch above wasn't clear, please let me know. |

Hmmm, do you know who he was or who he was with, Stu? Unfortunately I wasn't there last year, so I don't know him, but so far there's nobody with a 911 on the list yet.

For anyone reading this that ISN'T coming you are missing what is next best to the annual ring trip.
I've done all the big shows several times but The Asda Day beats the lot by a mile. Don't let the title put you off. Petrol head days don't come a lot better than this. If you come, you will go every year. |

Ok guys, just in case you haven't read it on IE or the WOC, here's the info if you would like to stay in the hotel where so many of us are staying either on Friday or Saturday or both days:
Accomodation In case some of you guys want to stay in a hotel that weekend we think we found a nice hotel for us. It's where the WR1-boys are staying and after contacting Chris Buckler he has kindly given us a quote to use when we book to get the rooms for £55 for a double room per night with breakfast. Chris wrote this hotel has always been used for the Asda day, it's very posh and has a good gym and pool, steam room, sauna etc. Here's the link: http://www.hotels-stay.co.uk/leicest...ley/116207.php But I think when you want to use the code, it's better to phone them. The phone number is: 01455 631122. Just quote OYM13 (On Your Marks 2013) to get the deal which covers Friday/Saturday/Sunday, it should be £55 for a double room with breakfast. And for all you guys who aren't registered on the WOC, here's the list how it looks so far especially regarding room bookings. If any of you would like to join in, you're more than welcome. Here's the first possible meeting point, guys, in case you want to join a convoy for Bruntingthorpe. This is where the guys from Scoobycity meet up at 6.30am and will leave shortly after. If you are interested, just let me know, please, and I'll put you on the list over there. |

Hi guys, here is some advice Clive posted on the P1WOC for the guys who offer laps for passengers.
To the guys that are driving on track I think that only 6 cars are allowed on track at one time but you may still catch up with the car in front. When you get on the runway go well wide to overtake. They dont sweep the runway and the car in front will be chucking up grit etc. THE LAP I couldn't believe how many cars were lifting for the first left. You wont need to and you will easily take it flat in a P1. Heading down the straight to the next right stay well left and hug the cones. Turn in aiming for inside right kerbs as trucks are also driving around the outside of the track we are on. If you don't cut the apex and you are on pace you will tend to drift out towards the truck lane . Short straight then you have a right into the chicane. Same again, hug the cones on left and use kerb on right. Once over the first kerb it's flat through the rest of the chicane and onto the runway straight. Your brain will tell you to lift but dont. Trust your P1. On the runway I only take it up to about 140 - 150. No point in driving flat out at high speed as it's the bends the passengers remember. At the end of the runway you will turn right and merge in with the trucks so beware at that point. It will pay to have a jerry can of fuel with you. It wont be a case of just popping out the show to fill up and you won't want to be cornering fast with a quarter of a tank or less as surge will commence. Remember guys most of us will first experience fuel surge on a track, not on the roads, and engines don't like it !! |

Donations
As you all know, instead of visitor passes (which would cost £10) we all will get driver passes that don't cost anything, no matter if we are offering laps for passengers or not. Chris Buckler kindly makes this possible to get all of us together on a stand and asked us to pay a donation of £5 or £10 instead for the good cause. I have talked to Clive and we think it might be a good idea to collect this money when we give you the passes and then take it to the WR1-stand. Hope that's ok with you lot. If any of you guys prefer to take the money to the WR1-stand yourself of course this is not a problem. Cheers, guys. Ask for a favour I do hope this won't happen because I'm really looking forward to meeting you all. But in case anybody needs to drop out, please let us know so that we don't wait in front of the gate for people who won't turn up. Cheers, guys. |

That's fine, Steve. Just some advice: If you want to meet us at the hotel carpark, please make sure to be early enough as the guys want to fill up before they go to Bruntingthorpe, too, at this petrol station: LE9 6QD. From there they want to leave for Bruntingthorpe at about 7.20 (see post 28). So I think you would need to be at the hotel carpark at about 6.30 or so. Just want to avoid misunderstandings. Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else soon. |

Hi guys, Chris Buckler just posted the following on the WOC:
Hi everyone, hope you are all ok,Asda rang us at home today to say that have given us an extra 3 spaces on the gate,so we can keep 9 cars on the track now instead of 6 cars. We need to leave the shell petrol station at 7 20am or thereabouts to get to the track for 8am,ask the hotel if you can get an early breakfast, they may help, also those with kiddies can roll in later just make sure you get your passes and roll in at 10am if you wish, but those going on the track should come early. |
