Finally ready for Mickeys Diner meet on Sunday!
Hi guys,
Well I've finally got to a point where I'm happy with the paint on the car in prep for my first SES meet on Sunday Can't wait to meet you all! (Ps - when you see the car - excuse the wheels - they need refurbing ) It's upto 6 layers of wax now and has been mopped twice and compound polished twice also. Cheers and see some of you Sunday

Looks good but! waxing new fresh paint is not a good idea Most, if not all the major paint manufacturers suggest leaving at least 30 days for degassing to take place and thats with the paint properly mixed and baked.
If degassing takes place and the gas cannot escape, then the paint will go milky and you wont be able to remove it without rubbing back and repainting! you can buff and polish (although the paint will still be soft) but don't add any sealers. and save your money on the wax two layers is plenty and optimum at least 3 hours between coats although 24hours cure is the best bet Enjoy the meet, although I think its a Kent meet and not an SES one, SES meets this month are Leeds castle and Nurburgring trip, hence no actual monthly |

Hi Ron,
Thanks for all the sound advice... Its most appreciated.. Each coat had about 4-5 hours in between, and each two coats had 24hrs inbetween - but I value the info about degassing e.t.c. After the weekend, I might strip it back with clay and compound, and let it degas as you suggest. Certainly dont want it going milky! And yeah, kent meet - apologies, wrong terminology Thanks again bud - roll on payday so I can get some of your detailer! Ryan

No worries mate would be a shame for your fresh new look to require some attention not long after you got it back
enjoy the meet and the car......... out of interest, what wax have you used? |

Compounds were Chemical Guys V36 and V38
Then Chemical guys Jetseal 109, Meguairs NXT 2.0, Meguairs Gold Class Liquid Wax, and topped of with Chemical Guys Petes' 53. Ryan

Jetseal then Pete's (can add a glaze either before or after the jetseal if you feel the need)
Much better with the Menzerna power lock than the Megs NXT although the above will do as you have them already HTH |

Have thought about moving onto Menzerna for a while now -and I only have a smidging of Megs left anyway - will have to get some prices for Menz...
Thanks bud Ryan
