Default Go Karting

Anyone fancy a go karting session before the bad weather sets in?

I've done Sandown recently which is a fantastic circuit, but would be open to suggestions if ones has any ideas.

Would be good to get a few of us together for a race or arrive and drive session.

This is an excellent circuit http://www.buckmore.co.uk/ which I have done an endurance race on with my dad and we came 2nd overall and got a trophy which I am very proud off lol one of the best karting circuits around in my opinion

These would probably be the places to choose from:

http://www.daytona.co.uk/venues/sandown/index.php - excellent circuit
http://www.buckmore.co.uk/ - never been but supposed to be brilliant
http://www.qleisure.co.uk/ - never been there so have no idea what it's like

Well we went to buckmore park karting last night for my mates stag do. There was 12 of us, very well organised and run place. Excellent track we done a 5 minute practice/qualifying which put me on pole and then I went on to win the 30 minute race!! So an even better day for me, wouldn't hesitate about going back it was absolutely superb and the best track i've done so far, highly recommend.
Then 14 of us out to Maidstone for a night out, few good bars then on to there club 'wonderland' cheap drinks and not a bad club at all really i've been in a lot worse and it doesn't kick out till 3.30! Back to premiere inn at 4.30am by the time we demolished a kebab and chips. Great day and night out really really good. Premiere inn is by the canal aswel if you like that sort of thing.

With Buckmore the organiser needs to pay in full up front. I've tried to organise events there but I'm not putting a load of my own dough down in case people can't turn up, cancel etc.

I much prefer the atmosphere and staff at http://www.bayfordkarting.co.uk in Sittingbourne. Really relaxed, decent karts and a fun, fast circuit plus everyone pays on the night. A fair amount cheaper than Buckmore too. I've organised I think 3-4 events there in the last 2 years and they've always been great fun.

Anyone still fancy this?

Did the Crawley track last week and it's pretty good, they can organise an exclusive race if we get 8-12 people

That's a true racer. Getting the excuses in early!

Depending upon when this is I may be able to join. Nice and easy to get to as an after work thing.

If it's Monday to Thursday I'd be interested as I can go straight from work, finish at 12:30 on Fridays so it's a long afternoon to kill.

Got the fastest lap of the night last time I was there. Even beating young skinny types with their own race suits and helmets
Was wanting to try the Brighton venue, as done Crawley 3 or 4 many times in several configurations.

What kind of dates would suit everyone?

I rang today and if we do a weekday evening it'll be either the upstairs or the downstairs circuit, it's luck of the draw which one apparently

Other option is getting a couple of teams together and do the endurance event. (Teams of 2-4 apparently)

I think Crawley is probably best location wise for most people as its central to the region. I know i wouldn't be able to get up to lakeside for an evening without knocking off work early.

Moley - any weekday evening should be fine for me.

I would love to do this, I recall quite a while ago we had tried to sort it with no avail.
Lakeside or Crawley or Sittingbourne all look cool.

Problem with booking this is that they need the full amount to book, trying to get that commitment from enough people can be a nightmare, you agree a date, it then takes 2 weeks to get the money through and then you've lost your date and not everyone can agree on a new one. Alternatively you take the risk and book at your own expense and then end up out of pocket as people then pull out before they've paid.

Is the best way to get exclusive?
And is that the only way to get the full track?
I am cool with that place or the other two mentioned.

Fri/Sat/Sun evening are when they run the full 3 floor track at Crawley...

The Unlimited Karting on a Sunday is pretty good, you get a minimum of 5x 10min sessions spread across the evening. We could basically pick a session start time and everyone books their own place at £40 each.

Very much so.

A few years back I organised a go karting session on Surrey Scoobies.
There were 10+ "yeah I will definitely be up for it".
On the day 3 people turned up.

If I'd had paid for those 7 no-shows I wouldn't have been a happy chap.

I'm able to do any sunday, and looks like Crawley is the place we are going? Lol. So let's pick a date, book up and then who ever shows shows? Looks like it is the only way we are going to be able to do this, like Red Baron said

Yep, exactly this. Its a bit like the old chicken and the egg scenario. Can't book a date at the track without guaranteed numbers, but people won't commit without knowing the exact date.

If we were going to do something like this, I think we'd need to plan it well in advance to try and book a free date with the venue, then take cash up front to cover the booking. If people then drop out, its their loss - the organiser can't be left out of pocket.

By setting a date well in advance, hopefully the venue would have time to fill remaining spaces if we went back and said we had less people than we hoped?

Sounds like a plan, I recon we should get a little convoy up there, and we pay our money for the said date.... Who ever comes up to pay in advanced knows the dealio by then anyway? And they have payed there money
