Default Exhaust???

To the all-knowing.
As previously advised, I have a 2001 WRX wagon, the previous owner installed an aftermaket BOV and cold air induction kit within the front wing, I have had a generic remap that states is should add another 40Bhp. The next step is to replace the exhaust as its currently got the box standard on it (after this, it will be a dyno and custom remap), my questions are as follows:
What type of system should I go for, full exhaust, cat back or just a back box?
What are the pros and cons for the above?
Lastly, on my old 2004 WRX SL i put a manifold back S/Steel system with 3inch back box, sounded great to start with and also on short runs, but as I now use the wagon as a daily hack, I dont want the rasping exhaust tones on motorways as it soon becomes irritable.
Thanks in advance.
Sam

I have a 3" Cobra system with Sports CAT and its good for noise, but does drone on long journeys...

Milltek are popular and do good systems with resonated units to help keep them track and noise friendly.

Always try and go 3" if you can to give best escape of gases IMO...
