The 97/98 ecu cannot be mapped, if it could it would be worth it and get you near to 280BHP. But unfortunately it cannot be done.

Power Engineering used to do daughter board for the 97/98 ECU but this has long not been un-available. It cost approx £650 back in 2000.

ESL have dangled the carrot for many years with a similar 97/98 daughter board but I think this is still in the final stages of development, as it has for the last 4 years. if it were to come to market I suspect the price would be approx £295-£350, plus £200 for mapping.

The best option for 97/98 cars is to get an Apexi PFC ECU for that model year and then get that mapped. These can be bought for approx £350 - £500, plus on average £200 to get it mapped.

Superchip's are crap. Just a crude boost clamp, no more of a remap then fiting a fuel-cut defender and a bleed valve.

Very expensive for what you get, see below (the PCB with coloured wires, not the chip next to it)
You could knock up an FCD for about £15, infact I have one I knocked up many years ago and also the below item kicking around.

If a Ppp Ecu could be found, it would give better power then stock but you will have to get the immobiliser recoded at a dealer. They have been known to charge upto £85 to do this.
