Heard Suzuki had gone yesterday, gutted to hear that Subaru have announced the same thing this morning.

Feel sorry for the drivers - i was standing in the service park at Wales Rally GB at the end of the event when Petter got out his car and came over to the crowd - he said thanks for all the support and that they'd be back next year to do a whole lot better.

End of an era - shame.

No there isn't.... there's Citroen's WRC team, and 3 Ford teams (the works team, Stobart, and Munchis). Beyond that, there are no other WRC teams now that Subaru and Suzuki have gone, private or not.

Other cars competing are all in different classes, such as PWRC, JWRC etc. JWRC cars are limited to 1600cc and 2wd, PWRC are 4wd but are very close to the showroom cars that anyone can buy - certainly nothing compared to the WRC cars. At the moment, PWRC series is basically full of Imprezas and Evos.

Making WRC cars subject to the same restrictions as PWRC cars would massively slash costs, and make the sport more attractive to manufacturers. Problem is, current the big two WRC teams (Ford & Citroen) don't have a 4wd road going car they could use in rallying under PWRC rules!
