Question Cleaning up and repainting brake callipers?

Hello

I need to get my new (second hand) brake callipers on asap on WRX daily driver, but i bought a funky colour calliper paint [brush-on]. This has limited my options on getting a company to do it, as most just send them away / use their own methods / products and not the paint i've bought

I'm sure many of you have experience in such things, SO I'm after:

*Tips on prep'ing from someone who's done it themselves
*Advice / recommendations on spray on primer and lacquer

i'd rather not strip the pistons out, i don't think the callipers are seized up, but how do i tell?

to check seized caliper either attach an air compressor to the fluid line or attach the caliper to the car and bleed it, then pump the brake and see if the pistons move freely, just make sure you put a bit of wood or brake pad inbetween so the pistons don't pop right out.
preping depends on caliper, is this the steel wrx 4 pots ? or alloy brembos ?

thanks for the reply, it's the Subaru 4 pot fronts and some sliding rears that are less pitted / mottled than the rears already on the car

Dremel and wire attachment.
to be honest to take the pistons out and buy a set of reseals etc doesn't cost much or take long.it's worth it just to know they are clean smooth and 100% working.
you just need to pick up a spare tyre valve cut it down to the metal connect it to a for pump psh it onto the bleed screw point and pump the pistons out.
clean them up and inside the caliper then as soon as you are certain the caliper is very clean paint away and don't bother with a primer if you have the correct caliper paint.
then when happy with as many coats as you can be bothered to do refit the new seals springs and job done.
did mine a while back.
and so glad I did service them.
