Brake fluid
Guys,
Anyone know how long the brake fluid is good for on AP Racing 5.1 ? Just noticed mine is almost 5 years old! Whats the fluid of choice these days? Going to chsne fluid along with a brake stopper. Steve

depends what your doing...........
road wise you can get away with 2yrs'ish, but for track/race type use then we would normally suggest at least a minor bleed after every meeting (just to move the super heated fluid out of the caliper - couple of pumps at each corner) and a full change every 1/2 to full season depending on how aggressive you are??

Thought the APRacing5.1 was the same as normal, change as per schedules? for a daily driver.
The 600 & 660 race stuff probably needs changing more frequently though, bottle mentions after each race IIRC. Good suggestion about slight bleed after track time though RCM put the APRacing5.1 in mine so I guess its still a great choice |

all synthetic based fluid has a similiar life so if not abused above or near its temp ability you could leave for 2yrs or so..........
what i mentioned above about every 6-12mnths applies to arduous use track/race cars and wil depend on driver, set-up, etc. regardless of which full race fluid you use.........

Sound advice squire. So, I've been a muppet and left mine in the car way...way too long. My car is used for road but looking at doing some track action this year. I'm not agressive but noticed more recently having to feather the pedal with the odd bit of left foot before going on them hard. Nuts. Steve

Apart from Motul RBF600, which is a kind of classic that you can't go wrong with, you can also try the CL Brakes (Carbone Lorraine) brake fluid. Even a bit higher boiling point. AP is also good stuff.
