Default Engine build

JJ from ZI Motorsport has gave me a few options for the build .

1. Brand new subaru engine fitted
2. 2.0 fully forged with sc36 or vf34 with Simtek ecu
3. 2.1 stroker
4. 2.5 fully forged
5. Rebuild my engine depending on damage

Anyway I've to give him a phone in December once I know how much my budget is going to be once I know what payout I get.

I'm with CJ on this out of the options you have listed a 2.1 if you can afford to do it, is the best you have listed up there.

Maybe silly but why not 2.2? Was good enough 22b or is it hard to get the block?

Why not just buy a sti 7/8 bottom end, decent head gaskets, arp bolts, your heads and bottom end is good for 500hp , and will save you lot of money?

Default Engine build

2.2 closed deck is circa 1k for the block halves alone, and most will build a 2.35 out of that ££££££
A v7/8 bottom end with STI 3/4 heads is a good strong engine and might make 500hp Dono if I would call that a "safe" 500 though on standard internals, in particular the rods, though there are folks out there running 500 on standard JDM 2.0 lumps, not sure how long it might last (flip a coin?)

Because a 2.1 will spool a turbo better and have more Tourque

2.1 or STi7/8 with Nitrided crank, unless you have deep pockets.
Keep running the 5 speed until it goes pop, clang, crunch, stop........

Bet you can't wait! What sort of power are you hoping for and will the 5 speed box cope?

360-380 just to start off with , the clutch can handle a lot more than that but will go down the 6 speed conversion when I put a bigger turbo on it . After I've had a bit of fun with it .

Would a sc42 turbo be good on a 2.5 fully forged closed deck engine .
